Karim Benzema’s continued absence from Real Madrid’s training has split the club’s fanbase into two. One section sympathises with the Frenchman’s injuries and considers it to be a genuine exemption. However, a vast majority of the fans believe that the Ballon d’Or winner is prioritising keeping himself fit for the World Cup.

According to reports from AS, Real Madrid believe the issue with Karim Benzema is the lack of match fitness. He is reporting pain in his muscles after games and group training and his situation is beginning to get worrying.

The striker played less than 30 minutes in Los Blancos’ midweek clash against Celtic before reportedly sustaining an injury in training. He then missed the team’s trip to Estadio de Vallecas and is now expected to be unavailable to face Cadiz too.

Real Madrid have largely managed in Benzema’s absence this season, finding ways to score goals even without a natural centre-forward. However, they sorely missed him against Rayo Vallecano yesterday and the forward line lost in the captain’s absence.

It remains to be seen if the Frenchman makes his recovery in time to train with his National Team ahead of the World Cup later this month. Yet, a recovery immediately after the cessation of club football would cast many doubts and favour the school of thought that Benzema was looking to avoid the risk of injury.

The veteran has only played seven of Los Blancos’ 13 La Liga games so far and has also missed two UEFA Champions League clashes in the process. With one of the biggest tournaments of his career coming up later, this month, one hopes his return to fitness is speedy.

It goes without saying that Dani Ceballos’ influence at Real Madrid has only grown since the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, despite that, clouds of uncertainty continue to remain over his future at the club.

It is understood that he is waiting for Madrid to come up with a renewal offer as his current deal expires at the end of the season.

According to Diario AS, Los Blancos had informed Ceballos that they would present him with a new contract towards the end of the season. To this date, though, there has been no proposal put forward by the team.

Ceballos is believed to be happy with his current status at Real Madrid. He does not want a big hike in salary, but what he is demanding is to feel important within the roster.

The Spaniard wants to know whether or not he has a place in the plans of the club and the manager. On the other hand, if Madrid does not offer him a new deal and the player ends up leaving, he knows he will have plenty of options to choose from.

Although Ceballos’ priority is to continue at Real Madrid, he is not closing doors on going abroad. At this moment, while there are no concrete offers, the midfielder has received multiple proposals through intermediaries of several important clubs, yet he continues to give Real Madrid priority.

Apart from the option of going abroad, Real Betis have made him known that he would be welcomed with open arms but given the financial troubles, a return remains an impossible task.

Furthermore, it has also been reported that Atletico Madrid approached the midfielder with an offer but as it turns out, Ceballos has decided to wait for Real Madrid after all.
