Real Madrid have decided to block the transfer of their 21-year-old right-back, Lorenzo Aguado, to Alaves, claims a report from MARCA

According to the outlet, the club believes Aguado, known as Loren, is a crucial player for their reserve team, Castilla, and has the potential to join the first team in the future.

It is said that Alaves were interested in acquiring Loren, hoping to replicate the successful strategy they had with Rafa Marin, another young talent.

Although they were unable to permanently sign Marin, they saw similar potential in Loren. However, Real Madrid intervened and halted the move, believing that he is not just important for Raul, but also holds promise for the main squad.

Loren, 21, has been with Real Madrid’s youth system since he was a child. As a right-back, he models his game after Dani Carvajal, known for his ability to both attack and defend effectively.

Last season, Raul praised Loren’s debut for Castilla, emphasizing his understanding of both offensive and defensive play.

He stated, “He is a home-grown player, I have known him for a long time and he is a full-back who knows how to attack and defend.”

Commitment to Real Madrid

Loren shares Real Madrid’s vision for his career. Despite interest from various teams, his primary goal is to succeed with his current team.

His dedication to the club is evident, and both Raul and first-team coach Carlo Ancelotti have confidence in his abilities.

Raul, in particular, values Loren’s quality, leadership, commitment, and loyalty to Real Madrid. These attributes have helped him rise through the ranks, earning him the fourth captaincy in Castilla despite physical setbacks last season.

Overcoming challenges

It is said that last season, the 21-year-old faced a few physical challenges, limiting his appearances to 13 games where he managed to score one goal.

Nevertheless, whenever he was fit, Raul preferred him over other options, including the Brazilian right-back Vinicius Tobias, who had been a significant prospect for Real Madrid. This decision underscored his importance to the team and the high regard Raul has for him.

Meanwhile, the decision to block Loren’s transfer reflects Real Madrid’s long-term plans for him. He is expected to be a key player in Raul’s ongoing project with Castilla and may also get opportunities with the first team under Ancelotti.

The club sees him as a potential future star, and for now, they are keen to keep him within their ranks.

With the Euro and Copa America finals approaching, the period for Ballon d’Or 2024 consideration is about to close.

These final two matches represent the last opportunities for frontrunners of the individual award to make a significant impact.

Given their dominant domestic seasons, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. are top contenders for the award. However, Vinicius’ early exit with Brazil widens the field of candidates.

Bellingham’s golden opportunity

Now, Jude Bellingham has a golden opportunity to secure the Ballon d’Or if he leads his team to victory in the Euros.

Taking on Spain in the finals, a victory would ensure that the Champions League winner is awarded a first-place position on the Ballon d’Or podium.

His impressive stats at the Euros coupled with his two match-winning goals strengthen his chances of achieving victory. And a triumph on such a grand stage would cap off a stellar season, making a strong case for his candidacy.

However, if Spain clinch the title in the final, the competition for the Ballon d’Or becomes much more open.

Given the Ballon d’Or’s tradition of placing significant importance on performances in international tournaments, the prospect of a Spanish player winning the award increases considerably if Spain wins the final.

In that case, Rodri stands as one of the frontrunners. Having won the Premier League with Manchester City and proving himself one of Spain’s most crucial performers in midfield, he would be a legitimate candidate.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s very own Dani Carvajal also would be a realistic option. He contributed considerably to Los Blancos’ trophies and scored the opener in the UEFA Champions League final.

The Euro final is pivotal for Bellingham’s Ballon d’Or prospects. Winning and performing well could secure the award for him. Finalists will be announced on September 4, with the grand ceremony set to take place on October 28.
