Real Madrid close in on contract agreement with 23-year-old playmaker – Romano

In a positive development, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Real Madrid are closing in on a renewal agreement with youngster Brahim Diaz over a new contract until the summer of 2027.
The 23-year-old youngster has spent the last three seasons away on loan at AC Milan, where he has honed his skills and developed into a solid player. The Rossoneri are understood to be keen on signing him permanently, but such a move seems off the table now.
Real Madrid plan to incorporate Diaz into the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu next season. As per the update from Romano, the former Manchester City starlet will be presented as a new signing and will form an important part of the roster under Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid had been working on Diaz’s contract renewal for a while now with talks progressing positively even though some reports suggested that the playmaker wishes to join Milan permanently.
However, now, the Spanish ace, who produced a return of seven goals and seven assists each from 45 games this season, is close to inking a new deal with the Spanish capital outfit.
The new contract will be signed in the next few days and will be valid until the summer of 2027.
Given that the Merengues are parting ways with Marco Asensio, who is set to leave for PSG as a free agent, Diaz is seen as a possible replacement for the Spanish winger in the squad.
Real Madrid signed Diaz from Manchester City back in January 2019. The attacking midfielder made 21 senior appearances for the club, in which he directly contributed with five goals (2G, 3A) before joining Milan on loan in the summer of 2020.
After three years in Italy, Diaz will get another shot at succeeding in Madrid and he will hope to make it count this time out.

Real Madrid defender taken off with an injury against Las Palmas

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.
Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.
Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.
And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.
Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.
Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.
Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.
The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
