Even with a clear-cut chance of securing a double this season, Real Madrid’s squad appears to be sorted for the season ahead.

The club are on track to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer while a few others may follow suit as well. However, it seems Real Madrid have more far-reaching plans and are starting to build the foundation of how their squad might look in 2025.

Xabi Alonso and Wirtz to join Real Madrid in 2025?

According to SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, Real Madrid are mulling over the possibility of securing a double swoop in 2025, in the form of Xabi Alonso and Florian Wirtz.

Real Madrid’s raid on Bayer Leverkusen is hardly surprising as Die Werkself has been the surprise package of Europe this season, notably securing the Bundesliga title this term.

Leverkusen have also recorded 50 matches without a loss, which is the highest among Europe’s top five leagues. Much of that credit should go to Alonso, who has become one of the most sought-after footballing brains in Europe.

Alonso’s contributions did not go unnoticed either and several clubs were interested in acquiring his services this summer. The Spaniard, though, has confirmed he will continue at Leverkusen next season.

Alonso’s desire to continue in Germany could pave the way for Real Madrid to make a move in 2025. Although Carlo Ancelotti’s contract at Santiago Bernabeu does not expire until 2026, Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Alonso nonetheless.

What about Florian Wirtz?

While Alonso has been the difference-maker off the pitch, it is Florian Wirtz who has made the difference on it.

With 37 goal involvements in all competitions, Wirtz is by far the hottest prospect in Europe right now. His goalscoring prowess and creativity in the final third make him an ideal target for Real Madrid as well.

Much like Alonso, Wirtz is also on the radar of several clubs this summer. But should the attacker stay at Leverkusen next season, Real Madrid could have an excellent opportunity to snap him up in the summer of 2025.

One thing is for sure – the potential arrival of Alonso and Wirtz could further solidify the Real Madrid unit, which is already looking like a world-beater.

Real Madrid are confident that Kylian Mbappe will not participate in the Paris Olympic Games, and as a result, they expect him to join their preseason squad in August, according to a striking report from SPORT.

The club has made it clear that they will not make any exceptions for Mbappe, nor will they treat him as a “special case” who can participate in both the Euro Cup and the Olympic Games, which are generally meant for younger athletes.

It is important to highlight that Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, is currently in Paris for a FIFA event. This event will give him the opportunity to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron and discuss the potential transfer of Mbappe.

One of Perez’s main interests is to bring the French star to Real Madrid as soon as possible. Ideally, this would be after the European Championship in Germany, which runs from June 14 to July 14, followed by a short vacation.

This is why Mbappe would be expected to join the team only in August.

No Mbappe is Paris Olympics

Interestingly, this plan would be disrupted if Mbappe were to compete in the Paris Olympic Games.

While participating in the Olympics would be highly appealing to the French capital and could even boost Mbappe’s popularity among his fellow countrymen, Real Madrid sources believe that he will skip the Olympics.

For now, Real Madrid’s confidence that Mbappe will not participate in the Olympics means they are planning for him to join the team for the preseason in August.

Meanwhile, as the situation is still developing, Perez’s trip to Paris for FIFA’s 120th Anniversary appears to be yielding results, paving the way for Mbappe’s anticipated move to Real Madrid.

While everything related to the transfer is on track, the official announcement is pending followed by the presentation.
