Miguel Gutierrez is one of many players shining at Girona this season under the leadership of Michel.

The young left-back, who joined Girona in a €4 million deal from Real Madrid in the summer, has become a regular feature in the club’s starting eleven.

In light of his performances this season, Gutierrez has become a subject of interest for many top clubs in Europe, including the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Manchester City join race to sign Gutierrez

According to SPORT, even Manchester City are now keeping close tabs on Gutierrez, following his blistering performances in La Liga this season.

The Premier League giants even have a major advantage over other clubs, as they are owned by the same entity as Girona – the City Group.

This will give Man City a major advantage, should they look to sign Miguel Gutierrez sometime in the future. Not to mention, this may also lead to the two clubs potentially altering Gutierrez’s valuation, though it is subject to Real Madrid’s approval.

Real Madrid, for their part, are closely monitoring the situation. The Spanish giants, after all, stand to profit from Gutierrez’s potential, as the club still hold 50% of the player’s transfer rights.

Real Madrid have no plans to recall Gutierrez

Manchester City are technically not a competitor to Real Madrid in the race to sign Gutierrez, as Los Blancos do not hold interest in the left-back at the moment.

Real Madrid primarily plan to ship Gutierrez elsewhere so they can earn a handsome profit. The player has a €35 million release clause, although Los Blancos can re-sign him for just €8 million.

The club from the capital, however, are well covered in the left-back position, thanks to the presence of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.

Although Real Madrid do want to sign a new left-back, they are primarily targeting Alphonso Davies. The young Canadian has been reluctant in renewing with Bayern and there could be a market opportunity to sign the player in the summer.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
