Tension in the Real Madrid dressing room has reached a critical point in the final stretch of the season.

Each passing day brings to light reports of issues between some players and manager Alvaro Arbeloa, as well as problems between players themselves as well.

Kylian Mbappe, Dani Carvajal, Dani Ceballos, Antonio Rudiger, and Alvaro Carreras are among the names who have been involved in some sort of dressing room altercation in recent weeks.

Now, there has been another major incident at the club’s training facilities.

Tchouameni, Valverde nearly come to blows

Indeed, according to an exclusive report from MARCA, Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni were involved in a heated confrontation that nearly escalated into a physical altercation.

The incident began with a routine passage of play, following a foul that triggered one of the most tense moments seen in recent times at Valdebebas.

The two players confronted each other, pushed one another, and engaged in a strong argument that continued in the dressing room. The episode quickly spread throughout the training ground.

Growing division in the squad

Real Madrid are going through one of their most delicate periods of the season, with no realistic chances of competing for major titles and an increasingly divided atmosphere within the group.

Differences between players are evident, and there are individuals who barely maintain any relationship with one another.

Coexistence with Arbeloa is also far from smooth, in a context where pressure and fatigue have taken their toll. There are as many as up to six players are not on speaking terms with the coach.

The latest incident between Valverde and Tchouameni, two key members of the team, comes after another concerning bust-up involving Rudiger and Alvaro Carreras, which was confirmed by the Spanish player himself.

Although it was publicly downplayed as a minor episode that had been resolved, the reality inside the squad reflects ongoing tension.

The issue for Real Madrid is that this latest clash between Valverde and Tchouameni comes just before a decisive match. On Sunday, they face Barcelona in El Clasico, a fixture that could further deepen the club’s struggles.

Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their fifth win of the 2026/27 La Liga season when they take on Elche CF at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero later tonight.

With 12 points from five games, Los Blancos are currently second in the league table, three points below leaders FC Barcelona.

As such, the Spanish capital club will be eager to get the win and close the gap to the top.

Guler starts, Bellingham rested

Ahead of kickoff, Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Elche, with Jose Mourinho making some important changes.

For starters, Arda Guler is back in the lineup after appearing as a substitute in the win over Rayo Vallecano.

Interestingly, however, he starts in the attacking midfield role, with Mourinho opting to rest Jude Bellingham, who has started all of Real Madrid’s games so far.

That also means that Yan Diomande retains his place in the team, starting for a second time in a row on the right wing. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. continue in their respective positions in attack.

Another notable change sees Aurelien Tchouameni make his first start of the season after recovering from injury and making two appearances off the bench.

He replaces Bernardo Silva as Federico Valverde’s partner in the middle of the park.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella come in as full-backs, while Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen slot in at centre-back in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
