Real Madrid handed boost in pursuit of key target as Bayern Munich start hunt for replacement

Day after day, Alphonso Davies grows nearer to a gargantuan move to Real Madrid. The Canadian international has been on the Merengues’ radar for a long time now and a move could materialise this summer.

Davies’ contract with Bayern Munich ends in the summer of 2025, forcing them to sell him this summer if they wish to make money.

After all, the player has stalled renewal talks for a long time and demands massive wages to stay.

Eyeing an alternative

According to reports from Jorge C Picon, Bayern Munich are beginning to lose faith in their objective of retaining Davies with a renewal. In fact, they are on the lookout for replacements.

Theo Hernandez and Miguel Gutierrez are the names considered by the Bavarian office as replacements for Davies, who is said to have a verbal agreement with Real Madrid already.

The player has not made a final decision and does not rule out any option. Real Madrid, however, is quite clearly the better-placed choice on his table as it stands but a renewal cannot be ruled out.

Davies’ entourage has not given any hints away on that front, without denying any contacts with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich outright. They insist that anything can happen in the summer.

The last resort

As revealed earlier today, Bayern Munich demand a fee of €70 million for the versatile left-back should he move this season. Real Madrid, meanwhile, are unwilling to cross the €40 million mark at any cost.

Florentino Perez and Co have always been on the idea that the club should do its business from the front door with a total agreement.

If Bayern Munich continue asking for an exorbitant sum and delay negotiations, however, the situation will change.

With Davies having only one more year on his deal in Germany, Real Madrid will then ask the player to run down his contract and sign for free in 2025.

Having used the same formula with Kylian Mbappe, Los Blancos are more than capable of repeating the feat.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
