A recent report from Diario AS has offered an update on the future of Eden Hazard. Ironically, there is no update at all and to Real Madrid’s misfortune, it appears the player is set to stay at Santiago Bernabeu next season.

The report points out that there is no viable option for Real Madrid to get rid of Hazard. The possibility of including him in a swap deal involving Harry Kane was mooted, but that is unlikely to evolve anytime soon.

Hazard has had offers from a host of clubs across the world, including Saudi Arabia. But he is not considering any of them and wants to remain at the Bernabeu until the end of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2024.

It appears the Belgian wants to follow the Gareth Bale route and is willing to stay at the club despite his lack of opportunities in the first team.

The only way Real Madrid can get rid of Hazard this summer is if the club pay for the player’s salary for the remainder of his contract. But that will not be an economically prudent move, as the club would require a large chunk of funds in order to terminate the contract.

Real Madrid, therefore, have accepted the fact that Hazard is going to stay at the club next season. The Merengues, though, won’t put too much thought into the Belgian’s future for now and are likely to shift their focus on Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman is reportedly closer to leaving the Bernabeu after a blockbuster offer from Saudi Arabia. With Marco Asensio also on the verge of leaving the club, Real Madrid could be in for a major rejig in the attacking department next season.

Locking horns in what is invariably perceived as an intense affair, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid concluded their most recent clash with controversy enshrouding the result.

Diego Simeone’s cavalry came out on top with a 3-1 win, but the reactions by both sides after the game implied a sense of bad blood, which appears to be an ongoing matter.

The Merengues expressed their displeasure with some of the referee’s decisions during their Real Madrid TV broadcast, highlighting the ‘blatant errors’ they felt referee Javier Alberola Rojas and the VAR had committed.

However, in response to the allegations, Atletico Madrid CEO has retaliated with his own accusations, not holding back against Real Madrid.

Gil Marin accuses Madrid of cheating

As per MARCA, Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin believes that the Real Madrid-related media atmosphere is exerting pressure on the referee teams for the upcoming games.

“Real Madrid cheats the competition. They create unbearable pressure on the referees. The arguments they use are funny but very serious and directly affect the competition,” he boldly exclaimed.

Real Madrid pointed out a bucketload of errors made by the referee on Madrid TV, including goals that should not have stood and violations that warranted sending-offs.

Even so, Gil Marin has not taken these assertions lightly and privately mocked the actions of Real Madrid’s claims.

“They are fanatics. They know that if they do not say these types of things, they would quickly lose their jobs,” he said.

Moreover, he alluded to the instance of Jude Bellingham’s tackle on Angel Correa in the dying embers of the game and how the narrative would have been vastly different if the roles were reversed.

“We wouldn’t be talking about anything else [had that happened],” he concluded.
