Toni Kroos is one of several Real Madrid players whose contracts expire at the end of the ongoing season.

The 34-year-old is a legend at the club where he has spent close to ten years, and to date, remains an integral part of the team under Carlo Ancelotti despite his age.

Real Madrid have contract offer ready

As such, Fabrizio Romano (h/t Madrid Zone) is reporting that Real Madrid have already prepared a new contract offer for Kroos.

The final decision is now up to the player to make a call on whether he wants to stay, test himself elsewhere, or retire from the game for good.

Kroos has always maintained that he wishes to call time on his career while on top and not wait until he loses prominence in the team.

The midfield legend, who is considering coming out of international retirement to play for Germany at the UEFA Euro 2024, has also ruled out the possibility of playing for another club at this stage in his career.

Ancelotti and Real Madrid continue to value Kroos greatly and the midfielder has been at the top of his game again this term, making 31 appearances in which he has one goal and seven assists.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and CEO Jose Angel Sanchez are understood to have informed Kroos that they intend to renew him. And now it appears that a contract proposal is also ready.

As is the case with older players at the club, the renewal offer is likely to be a one-year extension until 2025. The ball is now in Kroos’ court and it is up to him to decide whether signs the proposal or not.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
