As per a report by MARCA, Real Madrid have made a decision regarding their right-backs for the upcoming season. They have chosen Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez for the role.

The club believes Vazquez is the most suitable backup for Carvajal, indicating that they probably won’t pursue another right-back during the summer transfer window.

It is to be noted that Vazquez’s current contract with Real Madrid runs out at the end of the season and while there is nothing official yet, he is likely to receive an extension sooner rather than later.

Vazquez ready for extension

This season, Vazquez has been keen to show that Real Madrid doesn’t need to make big changes on the right side of defence just yet.

Carvajal has bounced back to his top form after recovering from injuries, and Vazquez keeps on performing well, just like in his previous seasons.

The right-back has reportedly made it clear he wants to stick with Real Madrid, and talks with the club about his contract are going smoothly.

While there is no set date for when the renewal will be finalized, it seems promising because both sides want the same thing. The club is happy with how Vazquez is playing and sees him as the perfect deputy for Carvajal.

Vazquez has a few objectives to achieve

Given everything at play, Vazquez has three main goals in his sights this season, namely securing victory in the Champions League, sealing his contract renewal, and aiming for a place in the Euro Cup.

Throughout this season, he has participated in 35 matches, with 27 in La Liga and eight in the Champions League.

In these games, he managed to score two goals and provide six assists, statistics that bolster his hopes of making it into Luis de la Fuente’s selection. As a Madrid full-back, he firmly believes that achieving these aspirations are entirely within reach.

As for Carvajal, his contract’s validity is until 2025 and for now, Real Madrid not putting much into a renewal. Any decision regarding the same is likely to be taken towards the end of the next season.

Real Madrid are set to welcome two new stars this summer, Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, but the Merengues are keen on further bolstering their squad.

Owing to the embarrassment of riches Real Madrid possess in midfield, replacing Toni Kroos with a new signing in midfield is not seen as an immediate priority.

Nonetheless, interesting opportunities will invariably be evaluated closely and it appears the name of Adrien Rabiot has entered the club’s crosshairs.

Real Madrid not the only ones interested

But, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Real Madrid face stiff competition from Premier League clubs and Saudi Arabian teams in their pursuit of midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The French midfielder is set to become a free agent if he chooses not to renew his contract with Juventus, a decision that seems increasingly likely.

Known for his technical prowess and versatility, Rabiot excels at playing multiple roles in midfield and notably thriving as a goal threat with late runs inside the opposition box that tend to catch opponents off guard.

While Real Madrid have no shortage of quality in midfield, Dani Ceballos’ exit could pave the way for the 29-year-old to secure a signing for Los Blancos.

However, Real Madrid would have to outmanoeuvre both the financial prowess of Saudi Arabian teams and the competitive allure of Premier League clubs to secure Rabiot’s signature.

On top of that, Juventus are also not giving up on their efforts to try and renew the contract of the French international.

In any case, Rabiot is unlikely to be a priority target for the club but they will be sure to keep a close eye on how his situation develops.
