Real Madrid have not offered defender a new contract due to recent injury problems

When Real Madrid shelled out close to €50 million to sign Ferland Mendy back in 2019, it was believed that the club had secured a long-term heir to Marcelo in the left-back position.
The Frenchman has not quite lived up to the billing, though, as his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu has been blighted by intermittent injury and fitness woes.
Indeed, the 28-year-old has spent considerable time out on the sidelines due to injury, especially in the past year or so.
Mendy’s injuries creating doubts at Real Madrid
And, as per MARCA, Real Madrid are having doubts about Mendy owing to his injury problems which is why they have not offered him a new contract.
In over four years at the club, the left-back has just 133 appearances and missed 58 matches due to injuries during this period – 25 of which have been since the start of 2023.
Mendy’s current contract with Real Madrid runs until 2025 but the player has been hoping for a renewal for some time.
But given his injury troubles, it is only natural for the Merengues to have some apprehensions over renewing his contract.
Alphonso Davies to replace Mendy?
In fact, with the situation being as it is, Real Madrid are considering the prospect of signing a new left-back next summer, with Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies identified as the ‘most desirable’ signing.
With Fran Garcia returning this past summer and plans in place to bring Davies to the club in 2024, it could spell the end of Mendy’s stint at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Having not played a single game so far this season due to injuries, it will be up to the 28-year-old to make the most of whatever opportunities he gets once he returns from injury.

French midfielder admits considering PSG move before Real Madrid called him

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.
However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.
Aurelien Tchouameni on PSG links
Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”
“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.
Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.
Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid
Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.
Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.
Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.
The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.

I think Mendy is aware of the mess he caused the club during the time he was still game fit and this should be troubling him when thinking back the flops he did.He has been careless at the back and most of professional clubs attacking players were already knowing him to be a weak link in the squad of Real Madrid. So he just have to look for new team.
