Real Madrid hesitant about signing Erling Haaland due to two reasons – report

It’s more than evident that Real Madrid are on course to finding a new centre-forward. And while several names have been linked, the one that stands out is a certain Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.
However, according to what Jose Felix Diaz has written for MARCA, it has been revealed that the team from the Spanish capital city is not really contemplating the idea of signing the Norweigian because of his poor track record with regard to his injuries.
And, the other issue that is discouraging Real Madrid is his high salary, which according to reports from England is around €1 million per week. This figure is something that the La Liga champions are not looking to sanction for anyone in the future.
In his brief career, the 22-year-old Haaland has already suffered several injuries. This includes muscular problems, knee issues and ligament injury. During the 2021/22 season, Haaland missed 42 days of action owing to a muscular problem.
During the same campaign, he also had issues with the hip flexor, due to which he was out for 35 days, resulting in him missing as many as seven games. A season before, he suffered from torn muscle fibre which forced him out for 28 days (seven games).
Now, there is absolutely no doubting Haaland’s capabilities, but Real Madrid do not want to take any risk as they are already suffering the consequences with Eden Hazard.
The Belgium international, signed from Chelsea in 2019, arrived with a great reputation but has failed to cope with persisting injuries. And Real Madrid will look to avoid a similar recurrence with Haaland.
In turn, the player Real Madrid are looking at is Palmeiras forward Endrick, who is currently the most in-demand Brazilian across Europe. As quoted by MARCA, the team is taking small steps towards closing the negotiation which is set to cost around €60 million.

Barcelona key duo expected to miss Copa del Rey second leg vs Real Madrid

It hasn’t been a good week for Real Madrid, who look all set to relinquish their Spanish league title to arch-rivals Barcelona come the end of the season, following a narrow defeat to the Blaugrana at the weekend.
However, as Real Madrid enter the international break, there is some positive news for Carlo Ancelotti and his men.
As reported by Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona look set to miss out on their two star players in Ousmane Dembele and Pedri due to injury, ahead of the upcoming second-leg semifinal tie against Real Madrid, in Copa Del Rey.
Real Madrid are heading into this game with a 1-0 defeat in the first-leg, meaning they must beat Barça with a two-goal margin in order to book a place in the final. The absence of both Pedri and Dembele, to that end, could be a major boost for Ancelotti.
Pedri, who was expected to return to full fitness for the second leg, has suffered a relapse. It has set his return back to three or four weeks late, meaning the youngster will not return until the April 23 tie against Atletico Madrid.
The situation is not much different for Ousmane Dembele. The explosive attacker is recovering slower than expected and though he was tipped to return in the league game against Real Madrid this month, he remains a major doubt for this Copa Del Rey tie.
However, Barcelona did register a narrow victory over Los Blancos even without these two individuals, so the task is definitely cut out for Ancelotti and his men as they look to exact revenge against the Catalans in Copa Del Rey next month.
