Real Madrid hit with fresh injury concern as versatile star picks up knock vs Mallorca

As Real Madrid came back from a one-goal deficit to blow past Mallorca 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, Lucas Vazquez’s injury was perhaps the only cause for concern after the clash.
The versatile operator, deployed at right-back by Carlo Ancelotti was forced off the pitch after an injury concern in the 71st minute, which led to the introduction of Dani Carvajal.
It has now been revealed that the 31-year-old was substituted late into the contest due to feeling discomfort in his left leg.
Further details suggest that tests will be carried out on Monday and Tuesday to discover the extent of Vazquez’s latest injury woe, as reported by MARCA.
With Los Blancos set to face teams of the calibre of RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Barcelona in less than over a month, the Spanish international’s presence will be crucial, due to his ability to provide cover in various positions.
Especially at right-back, considering Dani Carvajal has always been one of the European champions’ most injury-prone players.
Just last term alone, the 30-year-old spent 76 days out injured due to a variety of injury problems, missing 14 games in all competitions for Real Madrid in the process.
Considering Alvaro Odriozola is also dealing with fitness problems and is not favoured by the manager, Vazquez’s injury could be a cause for concern for Real Madrid.
To add to that, both Karim Benzema and Eder Militao are also currently out injured, which does not make matters any easier for Los Merengues.
The hope remains that Vazquez’s substitution was precautionary, with Ancelotti understanding the need not to risk a potential major injury issue.
Madridistas will have their fingers crossed that the Spaniard’s injury woe is minor, as the club aim to fight on all four fronts once again this season.

U-turn? Benzema hints at Real Madrid stay during ceremony: “Reality is not the internet”

There has been a lot of talk around Karim Benzema’s situation over the course of the last week or so, with reports claiming that the Frenchman was on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, it was reported that Benzema was joining Al Ittihad as part of an incredible deal worth nearly €200 million. The striker was also offered 100% of his image rights and advertising deals by the Saudi government.
Over the last day or so, it has been reported that the move is all but official at the moment, as Benzema has accepted the offer, and will soon inform Real Madrid about it.
Benzema was awarded the MARCA Leyenda awards for contribution to sports today, and speaking during it, he dropped a rather cryptic message about his future – one that says quite the opposite to what has been in the news recently.
“Speak to the fans? Speak about what? Why should I speak of the future if I’m in Madrid?”, Benzema said.
“It’s the internet speaking, and reality is not the internet,” he added.
This certainly falls away from the departure line for Benzema, who was reportedly already contemplating his life away from Madrid.
At first, though, he was hesitant about speaking about his future, saying, “Staying or leaving Real Madrid? At the moment, I’m here…we have a game on Saturday.”
He repeatedly talked about the fans, calling them the best in world football. He also said, “I know how much Real Madrid fans love me. I feel that when I’m on the pitch, I give my best for them, always.”
“I always say that we play with 11 on the pitch but also with a crucial factor, Real Madrid fans,” Benzema concluded.
