Real Madrid have had a quiet transfer window so far. With a host of star players having their contracts expiring at the end of the season, the club have mostly been forced to tend to contractual matters.

However, that is about to change as Real Madrid are in talks with Rayo Vallecano to sign Fran Garcia, reports Cadena SER.

The 23-year-old has been one of the top performers for Rayo this season, establishing himself as a first-choice left-back for the club. Since joining Rayo in 2021, he has already racked up over 100 competitive appearances.

Garcia’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid contemplating the possibility of signing the youngster. As per the report, the player is courted by other clubs including Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga giants are reportedly interested in paying Garcia’s €10 million release clause. However, Real Madrid, as Garcia’s former employer, have 50% of the player rights, meaning they can secure the services of the defender for a fee of just €5 million.

If the Whites do exercise the option, they are likely to send the 23-year-old back to Rayo Vallecano during the remainder of the campaign. As such, he will join the Real Madrid camp only during the start of next season.

This should bode well for Los Blancos, who are facing a precarious position in the left-back department. The departure of Marcelo had left the club with Ferland Mendy as the only recognised option in the position. But it appears even the Frenchman is facing an uncertain future at the club, with the player often criticised for his lack of consistency.

The addition of Fran Garcia, to that end, could greatly benefit the club. But with Leverkusen pushing, Real Madrid must make a definite decision on whether or not they are willing to fork out €5 million for the defender this January.

There is no secret that Real Madrid might consider a move for a new striker in the coming summer. With Karim Benzema slowly nearing the end of his career, the club are looking for a viable alternative ahead of the new season.

Carlo Ancelotti has been left impressed by the performances of Rodrygo in the centre forward position. But the club could still use the services of a more recognised option in the number nine position.

The Spanish giants are reportedly assessing La Liga for a potential low-cost option. But they are also open to looking through in other leagues, in their bid to add more depth in the attacking department.

To that end, Fabrizio Romano claims Real Madrid are eyeing a swoop for Roberto Firmino. The Liverpool star has become the latest player to be shortlisted by Los Blancos, with his current contract at Liverpool expiring at the end of the season.

Formerly of TSG Hoffenheim, Firmino has a stellar track record of performing in Europe. He has scored 110 goals in 361 competitive matches during his time at Liverpool, winning the Premier League and the Champions League title.

A centre forward by trade, Roberto is known for his tactical flexibility and the ability to shift into wider areas to build up the player.

It makes him an appealing target for Real Madrid, who would prefer a versatile striker in their ranks that can not only provide cover for Benzema but also the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

Real Madrid, though, are yet to hold any discussions with Roberto Firmino just yet. He has just been added to the list of targets and one would expect the Spanish giants to make a move once the season is over and the player becomes a free agent.
