Franco Mastantuono has become a hot topic at Real Madrid in recent weeks, with the club keen on acquiring the services of the Argentine whizkid.

European giants, including Barcelona and Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Mastantuono. But it appears the Spanish giants have overtaken their arch-rivals in the race to sign the young midfielder.

Mastantuono has made quite an impression in his native Argentine for his performances at River Plate. Thanks to his EU passport, he is also eligible to move to Europe this summer despite being only 16. As a result, he has become an appealing target for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid to use the Endrick formula?

According to Clarin, Real Madrid have now stepped up their efforts to try and sign Franco Mastantuono.

As per the report, Real Madrid’s emissaries have already met the player’s agents over a potential move to Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid’s idea is to replicate the operation they had with Endrick, who will join the club in the coming summer.

Although Mastantuono is eligible to move to Europe this summer, it appears Real Madrid are willing to wait until 2025 to secure the operation. Mastantuono turns 18 in 2025.

However, Real Madrid’s operation could be complicated by the young Argentine’s release clause, which stands at around €45 million.

Splashing such an amount could prove to be tricky in a summer where Real Madrid are expected to bring in several new faces, including Kylian Mbappe.

The player, for his part, will be desperate to move to Europe as soon as possible. But a lot may depend on how negotiations between Real Madrid and River Plate take shape in the coming weeks.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
