Contradicting reports continue to emerge on Real Madrid’s potential pursuit of a new attacker this summer.

Most of the rumours have been suggesting that Los Blancos have put their eggs in the Kylian Mbappe basket and will sign him either this summer or next and will not invest in any other forward.

At the same time, though, there are other media outlets that report Real Madrid plan to bring in a forward this summer if Mbappe does not arrive from PSG.

And one such option that Los Blancos are looking at to reinforce the frontline, as per Mundo Deportivo, is Lille’s Jonathan David.

The 23-year-old has been at the French outfit since 2020 and performed ably, scoring 58 goals in 136 matches.

A versatile attacker, David enjoyed a spectacular 2022/23 campaign as he finished with 26 goals and four assists from 40 games across all competitions.

The Canadian international’s performances have put him on the radars of several clubs across Europe. As such, Real Madrid have shown interest in David having lost both Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio, who were important source of goals for the team.

But, the Spanish capital giants will face competition from Serie A champions Napoli, who are viewing David as an option if their ace striker Victor Osimhen departs. Interestingly, the Nigerian has also been linked with Real Madrid.

Along with Napoli, their Italian rivals Juventus are also interested in David and see him as a possible candidate to replace one of Dusan Vlahovic or Federico Chiesa, both of whom are expected to be on the move.

The report claims that David’s value is around €40 million. It would make him a good option for Real Madrid while not compromising them financially when it comes to the pursuit of Mbappe. But with Napoli and Juventus also keen, a transfer will be tricky, if Los Blancos do indeed go after him seriously.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
