Real Madrid are gearing up for a busy summer ahead. There is already much excitement surrounding the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappe, whereas Endrick is set to join the camp in the coming summer.

Other than shoring up the ranks in the attacking unit, Real Madrid are also likely to beef up their options in defence.

The club have endured several injury-related woes in the defensive unit this season, with the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, and David Alaba struggling with injuries this campaign.

Real Madrid tracking Cristian Nikolaev

In their attempt to shore up the ranks in defence, Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Cristian Nikolaev.

This is according to Rodra P (h/t RM4Arab), who suggests that the club are interested in acquiring the services of the young defender, as part of the Juvenil A team next season.

A Spaniard with Bulgarian origins, Nikolaev currently plies his trade for Spanish club AD Alcorcon. Although he has yet to make a breakthrough in the senior team, he has become a regular for the subsidiary squad.

The report adds that Real Madrid’s desire to sign Nikolaev is part of the club’s plans to reinforce the ranks in the youth department, with Los Blancos also notably set to sign Real Majadahonda striker Carlos Munoz.

More about Cristian Nikolaev

Cristian Nikolaev is a centre-back by trade, who is primarily known for his astounding presence at the back.

Standing at 1.95m, Nikolaev is often a menacing presence at the back. He is distinguished primarily because of his power and speed in the defensive third.

The 17-year-old, therefore, could prove to be an exciting addition to the Real Madrid youth setup. The player, for his part, will welcome a move to the Spanish capital, as he looks to take the next step of his career.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
