Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently in a two-horse race to sign the Turkish wonderkid Arda Güler. The youngster has several of Europe’s top clubs lining at his doorstep but has finally narrowed down to the two options from Spain.

Barcelona gathered the upper hand in his pursuit in recent days with their sporting director Deco even making the trip to Turkey to convince the prodigy. However, MARCA report that the race is once again even.

According to the Spanish outlet, Güler was set to sign with the Catalans, but Real Madrid’s move in the last few hours has proven to be a game-changer. Negotiations between the prodigy and Barcelona are now at a standstill.

The Fenerbahce star has not yet made his choice. However, he will make his final decision between the two Spanish giants imminently.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid offer Güler prospects that the other cannot and it is understandable why the youngster finds himself in a dilemma.

From the Catalans’ perspective, the financial aspect of the deal is complicated. They cannot assure him of a place in the team for the coming season, especially given their difficulty in selling players. However, they assure him regular first-team minutes once the move goes through.

Real Madrid can sign him as early as this month with no economic hurdles and the player is a fan of the club’s project. However, he would face severe competition for a place under Carlo Ancelotti given the gold mine of attacking midfielders at the Italian’s disposal.

Güler will thus take some time to discuss the pros and cons of either offer with his entourage and return with a response. From the Merengues‘ perspective, however, the youngster’s newfound dilemma can only be a positive development.

The Turkish phenom is an attacking midfielder by trade and is considered one of the world’s finest young talents in his position. At just 18 years of age, he is not just a regular at the club level but has broken into the Turkish national team as well.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
