Real Madrid legend praises in-form striker: “They need these types of players”

Real Madrid have suffered continuous injury blows this season. Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois’s blows seemed to be massive roadblocks to Los Blancos’ success, but Vinicius Jr’s injury appeared to be the final blow.
The Merengues are maintaining their momentum even without the Brazilian star, and Joselu is one of the main reasons behind their consistency.
Since coming on as a substitute to replace Vinicius against Celta Vigo, the striker has recorded a goal involvement in all of Real Madrid’s games.
He assisted Jude Bellingham’s late winner against Celta before finding the back of the net against both Getafe and Real Sociedad.
Guti praises the striker
Earlier this week, Real Madrid legend Guti spoke to El Chiringuito about the team’s success in recent weeks and the strong start to the season.
He showered praise on Joselu, in particular, for his instinct in front of goal and called it an instrumental part of Real Madrid’s style.
“Joselu will score goals. Real Madrid needs these types of players,” he said.
The administration believes in him
As relayed earlier this week, the offices at Santiago Bernabeu are not surprised by Joselu’s prominence under Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid always valued Joselu as a top option and a player with a knack for scoring important goals. After all, he scored 16 goals for a team that was eventually relegated last season.
His signing, thus, was never as a backup option for Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. Moreover, the team’s decision to not recruit another striker was also because of the faith they placed in Joselu.
It will be interesting to see how the veteran’s role changes after Vinicius Jr’s return to fitness. After all, his performances to this point have been deserving of a regular starting spot.

Real Madrid defender taken off with an injury against Las Palmas

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.
Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.
Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.
And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.
Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.
Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.
Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.
The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
