Carlo Ancelotti’s second spell at Real Madrid has seen a sharp demarcation of roles to players. The manager has maintained faith in several players as undisputed starters, but an equal number have seen out the entire ninety minutes on the bench consistently.
As the club look to offload players as part of the summer transfer plans, it is the latter group who are unsurprisingly targeted. Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio find themselves on the market this summer.
According to reports from MARCA, Los Blancos are listening to offers for the Spanish duo.
After signing Aurelien Tchouameni, Ceballos is seen as a surplus in the current setup, and Madrid could use the funds from his transfer to reinforce other departments.
Meanwhile, while Asensio was certainly in Ancelotti’s plans last season, an agreement over a renewal seems a distant possibility.
Asensio had constant opportunities to prove his worth in the last season but failed to grab his chances. The club were said to be willing to renew his deal but refuse to offer him a pay-raise with the new deal.
Meanwhile, Ceballos played just 11 league games for his club last season. In his 275 minutes of action, he failed to make any goal contributions.
The club favour a departure for the midfielder but are under no pressure to sell. Needless to say, no hasty decision will be taken.
