Real Madrid’s elimination from Copa del Rey at the hands of Atletico Madrid was a hard sight for the fans. Moreover, it was more difficult to watch as the team was coming on the back of Spanish Super Cup glory.

Within the team, it is believed that the entire locker room is extremely hurt by the result and there is some kind of anger mostly because everyone shares the same idea that they lost a good opportunity, especially after Joselu had equalised, reports Rodra.

“It is not easy to evaluate this match. We have played well, we have competed until the end, we have fought and recovered from the disadvantage twice,” said a dejected Carlo Ancelotti when asked about his evaluation of the contest.

Players are hurt and there is a reason

The Real Madrid players felt really upset after being knocked out of Copa del Rey. It’s one thing that the elimination now means fewer matches for the players, but the defeat has left them feeling frustrated.

For what it is worth, the players weren’t afraid of playing many matches or getting tired. In fact, they were determined to beat Barça and Atletico, especially after their recent win in the Spanish Super, but now, their plan is not looking so good.

A learning curve

As for the recent defeat, everyone in the locker rooms shares the same idea that they were the better team on the night. Since the turn of the year, Real Madrid decided to set a goal and winning the Super Cup was the first step.

They also want to seal the La Liga title and winning Copa del Rey was another trophy on their agenda. They believed they could show their strength in national competitions, however, the result at the Wanda Metropolitano has crushed their hopes.

The optimism within the team came because they knew Barça and Atletico weren’t in their best form this month, so they saw it as a good opportunity. But now, the players think that they lost because of their mistakes in defence and bad luck in the opponent’s area.

They’re really affected by it, but one good thing that came out of this is that in the league, they know they can not afford to make any more mistakes.

Real Madrid officially played their final game of the league season this past weekend and the focus now shifts to the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1.

The Spanish champions have the glorious opportunity to secure their 15th Champions League title this on Sunday.

But heading into this clash, Real Madrid are likely to miss out on the services of one of the key players – Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Frenchman will likely be ruled out for the UCL final due to an injury incurred earlier this month.

Tchouameni on UCL final

Speaking ahead of the final, Tchouameni admitted that it would be very difficult for him to participate in the UCL final.

“I can run, I think it is very difficult to play in this final and we have more players who can be in my position. The important thing is that we are going to win this Champions League,” Tchouameni said.

The Frenchman added that he would try to help the team any way he can, stating, “If I can be the MVP from the bench, I’ll do it.”

Considered by many as the future of the Real Madrid midfield, Tchouameni has played a valuable role in the middle of the park this season.

His versatility, coupled with his ability to spread the play and put pressure on the opposition have served as key to Real Madrid’s success.

Although Tchouameni might not feature in this final, the player expressed his optimism about the Real Madrid team, adding, “I really want to play in this final, but I’m sure we will reach more finals [in coming years].”

Finally, Tchouameni expressed his happiness at Real Madrid, stating, “It’s an incredible feeling to be at Real Madrid.”

Formerly of AS Monaco, Tchouameni has featured in 88 competitive matches since joining Real Madrid in 2022. With Toni Kroos retiring, he is expected to play a crucial role for the club going forward, although not necessarily in the upcoming Champions League final.
