After years of success at Santiago Bernabeu, it appears Marco Asensio is finally on the verge of leaving Real Madrid. His contract at the club expires at the end of the season and everything indicates he will become a free agent.

Real Madrid have already kickstarted their search for finding a replacement for Asensio in the transfer market. According to Diario AS, the club are not looking too far either, having identified Brahim Diaz as a potential replacement for Asensio.

The former Manchester City starlet has gained valuable experience at the top level during his time at AC Milan, even helping the Rossoneri win the league title last season and reach the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League this time around.

Due to his long loan spell at San Siro, Real Madrid practically consider Diaz a new signing, much like Fran Garcia. The club will make adjustments to his contract and might consider the possibility of incorporating him into the first team.

The Spanish giants boast the services of Rodrygo, but Diaz can offer more tactical flexibility. The player, for his part, could have a chance of gaining more prominence in the Spanish national team if he can impress at the Bernabeu.

However, Brahim Diaz’s future remains open as Milan are expected to try and secure a permanent deal for the playmaker this summer. The player himself is reportedly keen on prolonging his stay at San Siro.

Real Madrid will make life difficult for Milan by holding out for a hefty price tag. Although Milan themselves are ready to splurge big, they have also been linked with a move for Asensio. So it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming weeks.

Speaking to the media, Brazil Football Confederations (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodrigues has claimed that the Selecao have not given up on their pursuit of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, despite the Italian stating that he will not leave the club.

Brazil have been without a manager since the World Cup in Qatar last year, following which Tite stepped down. The CBF have made Ancelotti their top target and have been pursuing his signing for months but to no avail.

The 63-year-old Italian tactician has, on more than one occasion, made it clear that he will be at Real Madrid next season, with his contract expiring in 2024.

However, CBF president Rodrigues is adamant that Ancelotti’s statements are due to him being cautious as he is under contract at Real Madrid and that the Selecao are not prepared to give up on their quest to appoint him as of yet.

“We made a plan, that ‘Plan A’ is the one you know, Ancelotti, and as they say in the ‘ring’ (boxing), I haven’t thrown in the towel yet,” Rodrigues said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

“Because of contracts, people are cautious,” he added.

Ancelotti, for his part, has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to leave Real Madrid unless he is forced out of the club.

Despite missing out on the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League titles last season, the club continue to back the veteran Italian and are planning for next season with him in charge.

So, despite Rodrigues’ confidence and perseverance, it is extremely unlikely that Ancelotti will be leaving Real Madrid for Brazil this summer.
