Real Madrid ‘maestro’ backs 18-year-old forward to get minutes under Ancelotti: “We have a great coach”

Arda Guler’s delayed entry into Real Madrid’s dynamics sees him fight an uphill battle for minutes against some of the best in the business. With Jude Bellingham and Brahim Diaz both playing at sensational levels, the Turkish star clearly does not have it easy.

Yet, having overcome a long list of injuries to return to the team’s setup, Guler has shown that he has the tenacity required to succeed at the club. After all, he has shown good quality in his few matches so far despite the relative lack of match fitness.

Kroos backs the star

Earlier in the season, it came to light that Toni Kroos has taken the new signing under his wing in training to help him incorporate better and settle into life at Madrid.

Earlier this week, the German maestro once again came out backing Guler and expressed his confidence in the starlet to come good.

“Turkish fans are very proud to have Arda Güler at Real Madrid, they become a little impatient & of course they want him to play a lot as soon as possible. We have a great coach & he will surely handle it very well,” he said, as revealed by SporX.

Having participated in just three of the team’s last nine appearances across all competitions, the Turkish phenom is clearly far from where he wishes to be under Carlo Ancelotti.

Needless to say, he will require all the support he can get from veterans like Kroos if he is to learn to deal with the difficult situation and come good.

A possible loan stint?

As revealed earlier this week, Real Madrid no longer see the possibility of sending the 18-year-old on loan in the summer to be a bad idea. After all, he is a prospect for the long term and limiting his minutes owing to competition will only hinder his development.

AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayer Leverkusen are just some of the elite clubs eyeing his signature on loan in the coming summer transfer window, although it remains to be seen if they demand any clause to make the move permanent.

In any case, Los Blancos see Brahim Diaz’s loan stint and subsequent return to be the ideal comparison and have reason to believe that Guler can sail the same boat.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
