Only earlier today, reports emerged claiming that Real Madrid have shown an interest in Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian, also known as Messinho.

The 16-year-old attacking midfield sensation is setting the stage alight at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup with Brazil, racking up three goals and assists apiece from four games.

Barcelona have been long linked with a move for Estevao, but Real Madrid have also now entered the picture.

Real Madrid make contact with Palmeiras

In fact, Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Real Madrid have already made contact with Palmeiras to ask about Estevao and his situation.

In addition, a representation company close to the Merengues through Vinicius Jr., also offered to act as an intermediary with the player.

Real Madrid have a good working relationship with Palmeiras, having negotiated a deal with the Brazilian club for Endrick less than a year ago.

And the Spanish capital club would not be averse to signing Estevao, who has a €60 million release clause in his contract if the 16-year-old continues progressing at this rate.

Apart from Real Madrid and Barcelona, a number of other top clubs in Europe are interested in Estevao.

Indeed, as many as three Premier League giants in the form of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea are all keen on the teenage prodigy and have the financial power to go after him.

Meanwhile, PSG had already seen a €40 million offer rejected for the 16-year-old and recently raised it to €50 million.

Estevao, whose contract with Palmeiras runs until 2026, has admitted that he dreams of playing for Barcelona.

But, Real Madrid, for their part, do not plan on giving up on their pursuit of the teenage sensation, who will only be able to move to Europe in 2025, once he turns 18.

After unveiling the final squad for France for the upcoming European Championship, coach Didier Deschamps appeared in front of the media to discuss the nation’s preparations for the tournament.

Deschamps was notably asked about Kylian Mbappe and his potential move to Real Madrid in the coming summer.

Deschamps on Mbappe announcement

When asked when Real Madrid may announce the signing of Mbappe, the French coach replied (h/t L’Equipe), “They will decide when it’s time to make it official. As far as possible, I will adapt to the squad.”

This comes on the back of earlier reports which claim that Real Madrid are desperate to announce the signing of Mbappe before the start of Euro 2024.

The coveted tournament begins June 14, though France’s opening game is on June 18 as they take on Austria in the city of Dusseldorf.

Deschamps also dismissed concerns over Mbappe’s form, stating, “You don’t find Kylian Mbappé in good shape? He only scored 44 goals in the season. It’s true that he could have done better.”

Deschamps on Tchouameni’s fitness

As things stand, a total of three Real Madrid players are a part of the France squad for the European Championship.

One of them is Aurelien Tchouameni, who picked up a knock earlier this month which could keep him out of the upcoming Champions League final.

Deschamps, though, is not worried about his fitness and is hopeful of having the midfielder back for the Euros.

“Tchouaméni? I’m not worried. The deadline is too short for the UCL final but for the Euro it’s more than doable,” he said.
