Real Madrid make surprise contact over 33-year-old free-agent midfielder – report
Real Madrid have taken an initial step towards a possible move for Marcelo Brozovic, with fresh reports claiming the club has already explored the midfielder’s availability.
The Real Madrid transfer news suggests Los Blancos contacted the Croatian international’s representatives after his departure from Al Nassr to assess whether a deal could become possible during the current transfer window.
In fact, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, a representative from Real Madrid recently approached Brozovic’s camp to gather information and determine the player’s level of interest.
While no formal negotiations have begun, the enquiry indicates that the experienced midfielder has entered the club’s thinking.

Marcelo Brozovic to Real Madrid rumours have gained momentum following the midfielder’s decision to end his spell in Saudi Arabia.
His departure from Al Nassr means he is now available on a free transfer, making him an attractive short-term option for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield without making a significant financial commitment.
According to the journalist, Real Madrid’s contact with Marcelo Brozovic was primarily aimed at understanding his current situation rather than advancing discussions over an immediate move.
Tavolieri even claims that Jose Mourinho wants Marcelo Brozovic, viewing the Croatian as a player capable of adding experience, tactical discipline and composure to the squad.
Notably, the proposed idea would involve a one-year contract rather than a long-term commitment.
Despite being 33, Brozovic remains one of Europe’s most experienced midfielders and could offer valuable depth if Real Madrid eventually decide to strengthen that area of the squad.
Camavinga’s future could decide Real Madrid’s plans
Although the aforementioned development has generated interest, completing any deal is far from straightforward for Real Madrid.
This is because Real Madrid have already strengthened their squad with four new signings this summer, and before any new midfielder arrives, space must first be created within the current squad.
That brings renewed attention to Eduardo Camavinga’s future at Real Madrid.
The French international is one of the players the club would consider allowing to leave.
However, Camavinga has no intention of departing and is determined to convince Mourinho during pre-season that he deserves a place in the team.
Hence, as things stand, his stance makes any Real Madrid midfielder transfer increasingly difficult, regardless of the names being linked with the club.

Real Madrid’s midfield is the one department where Jose Mourinho sees clear scope for improvement, especially given that the club did not sanction his wish for a top midfield signing in the summer.
While Bernardo Silva has chipped in as a handy option to feature in the deep midfield, the club still lacks a controlling and creative option who can glue the team together.
In that sense, there is a clear lacuna that Real Madrid need to address and Defensa Central brings to light that the club have opened up to a potential target.
Zubimendi emerges as a target
Indeed, the player in question is Arsenal’s Martin Zubimendi who the club have seen as a target for a long time, and Real Madrid could even go on to sign him in January.
The Spanish international has not started off the new season well under Mikel Arteta and has primarily featured as a substitute. He does, thus, see a move to Madrid with good eyes in every sense.
Real Madrid, for their part, have not ruled out his signing as was reported in recent months and there is even a chance they seriously pursue him in the winter transfer window as a mid-season fix.
The possible fee
The Spanish outlet also add that Zubimendi’s move to Real Madrid could be completed for a fee similar to what Arsenal paid for the player for his transfer from Real Sociedad – €70 million.
Mourinho’s insistence on making a new midfield signing is no secret, and with a clear target now in mind, the board could well back him with the player he wishes.
Notably, however, even Chelsea are seriously interested in his signing.
So far, Federico Valverde has been Real Madrid’s mainstay in midfield, and Aurelien Tchouameni’s return will change the team’s dynamics in the department.
Neither player, however, offers the control and distribution skill set that the team direly lack.
A big part of whether or not the club pushes for Zubimendi, however, will depend on how the Valverde-Tchouameni combination plays out in the coming months. It is, after all, the manager’s first-choice combination for big games.
