Real Madrid are keeping an eye on RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, who is a transfer target for FC Barcelona, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The 25-year-old former Barça academy trainee had been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu this past summer as well, but nothing came of it.

Instead, Olmo ended up signing a new contract with RB Leipzig, until the summer of 2027, although his future remains in question.

Olmo has a €60 million release clause

According to the report, as part of his new contract, Olmo has a release clause worth €60 million, which could be triggered to sign him up.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is understood to be an admirer but the Catalan giants are not the only one interested.

Indeed, the report claims that Real Madrid are also keeping a close eye on the situation of the versatile attacking midfielder.

Olmo is a player capable of playing anywhere across the frontline or even as an interior midfielder and has proven himself at the club and international levels.

A multi-faceted player with his best years ahead of him, the Spanish international could be an exciting option for clubs, even Real Madrid as they prepare for life after Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Manchester City also keen

The report goes on to add that apart from Real Madrid and Barcelona, Manchester City are also following Olmo at RB Leipzig.

The 25-year-old was viewed as a replacement for Bernardo Silva, who had been linked with an exit in the summer, but ended up staying. However, City are still keeping tabs on the Spanish ace.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s local rivals Atletico Madrid are also keenly tracking the versatile midfielder’s situation.

The player, for his part, is ready to take the next big step in his career, and it remains to be seen if Los Blancos consider making a move for him.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
