Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has expressed that he wishes to continue at the club beyond his ongoing contract, which ends at the end of the season.

Ceballos, 26, has been with Madrid since 2017 but hasn’t really fitted well within the scheme of things. Interestingly, even the ongoing season did not start well for the midfielder, as he would often find himself coming off the bench.

As the campaign progressed and the players struggled with fatigue, Ancelotti called on his services and the midfielder did not disappoint. Despite that, however, it is understood that even if Ceballos continues beyond the ongoing season, he will play second fiddle mostly because the team is looking for a high-profile midfielder.

The player, though, believes that if the management values him enough, he is willing to give his heart and sweat to the team. “I want to continue at Madrid if they value me,” said the midfielder during a press conference.

In the same presser, the midfielder also gave his opinion on the incident he was involved in with Barcelona midfielder Gavi. During the recent El Clasico, which ended in Barcelona’s favour, Gavi was seen pushing Ceballos even when the players were off the ball.

To this, he simply said, “Gavi’s foul? Clear red card.”

It must be remembered that earlier this month, he accepted that his Madrid tenure has not gone as he would have hoped but he is indeed enjoying his time now. At the same time, he went on to utter that if the management does not feel he is worthy of a contract, he does not want one.

“I want to play football and be judged by my level on the pitch. I do not want to renew with Real Madrid if I don’t deserve it,” Ceballos said in the program Universo Valdano for Movistar Plus+ (h/t Managing Madrid).

“I don’t want to go to another club if I don’t deserve it. I want to enjoy my football, what do I have, three months left?

“Well, I want to play those three months and give everything. And then, at the end of the season, talk to whoever I have to talk to, meet with my family members and value what is best (for their future),” he added.

For now, there is simply no clarity on the midfielder’s future, but if he does well in the upcoming internationals, things might change for the good.

Eden Hazard is one of the Real Madrid players who have vowed to stay at Santiago Bernabeu until the end of his contract. His current deal at the club expires in 2024.

Even though the Real Madrid star has been courted by several MLS and even the Saudi Arabian clubs, the forward has shown no desire to leave Bernabeu just yet. He wants to stay at the club even though Los Blancos are ready to sanction his sale this summer.

In the midst of this drama, a fresh report from Alfredo Matilla suggests Real Madrid are now considering terminating the contract of Eden Hazard.

This comes shortly after a report which claimed that a Real Madrid player who is not out of contract this summer, may shockingly leave the club this summer. Ferland Mendy was a potential candidate, but it appears Hazard has not been ruled out either.

The Belgian international has offered very little since joining from Chelsea in 2019 for a record-breaking €115 million fee. His spell at the Bernabeu has been marred by injuries, while the player has also struggled to impress when given the opportunities.

Inside the Real Madrid dressing room, there is both grief and resentment towards Belgian, who has remained steadfast in his decision to stay at the club. He has a good standing in the team due to his professionalism, but the Real Madrid bosses are determined to get rid of him this summer.

Hazard, after all, is the highest-paid player in the squad and his departure could open up a chunk of the space in the salary mass. But it must be noted that Real Madrid would have to spend a fortune to terminate Hazard’s contract.

Hence, it will be interesting to see whether or not Los Blancos end up splashing the cash in order to get Hazard out of their books this coming summer.
