Real Madrid are bracing themselves for a summer of change. What seemed like a relatively routine summer transfer window has turned into a busy one for the Spanish giants, who are expecting a lot of defections ahead of the new season.

Karim Benzema is already tilting towards an exit from Santiago Bernabeu, amid a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad. Marco Asensio is another player gearing up for an exit.

According to MARCA, Asensio has agreed a move to Paris Saint-Germain. Although he is yet to sign a new deal, the attacker will likely pen a long-term deal at Parc des Princes. He will join the club on a free transfer, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season.

Real Madrid wanted to renew the contract of Asensio, who has been involved in 20 goals in all competitions this term. His contributions played a key role in Real Madrid’s campaign this season, even though the club faltered in La Liga.

Los Blancos wanted to keep hold of Asensio’s services as he could have provided excellent depth to the team next season. But it appears the Spaniard was not happy with the role offered at Santiago Bernabeu and wanted a more prominent place in the starting eleven.

This was a key driving factor in convincing the attacker to quit Real Madrid. He is now set to join PSG, with the deal likely to be completed after the club’s last league game against Athletic Club on Sunday.

Asensio could be a focal point in the PSG attack, as the French giants gear up for the exit of Neymar and Lionel Messi, who remains in contention to return to Camp Nou despite lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and North America.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
