As Real Madrid prepare to play Real Betis away from home on Saturday, November 9, there is some hope regarding the participation of veteran midfielder Luka Modric, who has missed his side’s last two games against Napoli and Granada, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Modric experienced a muscle overload during the clash against Cadiz on November 26, which stemmed from the lengthy playing time during the national team break.

The veteran midfielder has been undergoing isolated training in recent days, but earlier today he was back training with the group, which provides some hope that he could return against Real Betis.

In instances such as these, Real Madrid opt to prioritize caution, especially given the challenging circumstances with up to three midfield players— Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Arda Guler—currently sidelined due to injuries.

The team is mindful of not aggravating the situation and is closely monitoring the evolution of Modric’s condition.

Nevertheless, it is no secret that his significance for Real Madrid extends beyond his skill on the field, especially given the team’s current struggle with injuries.

It is no secret that Modric, on a personal level, is diligently working to meet recovery deadlines.

The silver lining in this rash of injuries is the emergence of opportunities for players who have seen fewer minutes, with Modric finding himself in such a position after years of undisputed dominance in the midfield.

In light of these circumstances, the Real Madrid veteran, whose contract ends in 2024 amidst an air of uncertainty, is determined to make a swift return to the pitch. He aims to make sure that everybody understands age is merely a numerical figure.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
