Much has been said regarding the future of Luka Modric lately. After spending a decade at Real Madrid, it appears the midfielder is finally going to put an end to his spell at Santiago Bernabeu this coming summer.

It was reported earlier that Modric was unhappy with his role at Real Madrid and is unlikely to renew his contract. A move away from the Bernabeu, therefore, seems inevitable.

Modric has interest from Croatia, Saudi Arabia and MLS

A recent report from The Athletic has shed more light on the future of Modric, suggesting that there is no shortage of takers for the Real Madrid veteran.

Indeed, Modric has interest from Saudi Arabia and MLS, as clubs look to anticipate his potential exit from Real Madrid at the end of the season.

There is interest from his homeland Croatia as well, with his boyhood club Dinamo Zagreb understood to be keen.

As far as Real Madrid are concerned, there are doubts about his renewal and the club have not made any move. At the same time, the player, too, has doubts about continuing at the Bernabeu given the current circumstances.

Modric keen on US move, repelled by Saudi

When Luka Modric turned back multi-million offers from Saudi Arabia last summer, it was thought that the midfielder only wanted to remain at Real Madrid and would consider these offers once again in the summer of 2024.

However, the Athletic suggests Modric is not too keen on the idea of moving to Saudi Arabia. He is much more attracted to the prospects of moving to the US.

Former La Liga stars such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets have moved to the MLS in recent years and there is no reason why Modric can’t follow suit.

However, it must be noted that Modric has not ruled out a prolonged stay in Europe either. While another year at Real Madrid can safely be ruled out, it won’t be surprising to see the midfielder take up a challenge at another European giant this coming summer.

Real Madrid officially played their final game of the league season this past weekend and the focus now shifts to the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1.

The Spanish champions have the glorious opportunity to secure their 15th Champions League title this on Sunday.

But heading into this clash, Real Madrid are likely to miss out on the services of one of the key players – Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Frenchman will likely be ruled out for the UCL final due to an injury incurred earlier this month.

Tchouameni on UCL final

Speaking ahead of the final, Tchouameni admitted that it would be very difficult for him to participate in the UCL final.

“I can run, I think it is very difficult to play in this final and we have more players who can be in my position. The important thing is that we are going to win this Champions League,” Tchouameni said.

The Frenchman added that he would try to help the team any way he can, stating, “If I can be the MVP from the bench, I’ll do it.”

Considered by many as the future of the Real Madrid midfield, Tchouameni has played a valuable role in the middle of the park this season.

His versatility, coupled with his ability to spread the play and put pressure on the opposition have served as key to Real Madrid’s success.

Although Tchouameni might not feature in this final, the player expressed his optimism about the Real Madrid team, adding, “I really want to play in this final, but I’m sure we will reach more finals [in coming years].”

Finally, Tchouameni expressed his happiness at Real Madrid, stating, “It’s an incredible feeling to be at Real Madrid.”

Formerly of AS Monaco, Tchouameni has featured in 88 competitive matches since joining Real Madrid in 2022. With Toni Kroos retiring, he is expected to play a crucial role for the club going forward, although not necessarily in the upcoming Champions League final.
