Real Madrid are potentially looking at one of the most important summer transfer windows in recent years. The club have already bagged the services of Jude Bellingham while losing out on Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.

They have been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe, who might be offloaded by Paris Saint-Germain as they look to avoid seeing the forward leave on a free transfer. Real Madrid, though, appear more focused on the pursuit of Arda Guler at the moment.

This has been reported by MARCA, which suggests the Turkish sensation could make a decision on his future this week. Everything indicates he will leave Fenerbahce, with Real Madrid emerging as one of the potential destinations.

Guler has been on Madrid’s wishlist for a long time and now is the occasion for them to make a move. The youngster wants to take the next step in his career and is available for just €17.5 million, which is a reasonable fee for any European club.

Guler, though, has been holding out for lucrative wages, which is where Real Madrid take the cake. The Spanish giants’ are offering terms closer to the youngster’s demands, which could give them a major advantage in the pursuit.

It appears Guler could be the surprise package at Real Madrid this season. The club’s coaching staff is sure of the youngster’s abilities. Although they are not sure how the player would fit into the team, his versatility could be of real help.

Guler could indeed provide some much-needed backup in the right wing and even in the attacking midfield position. With 13 goal involvements, the youngster has already proven himself at the professional level and could be a handy alternative for someone like Brahim Diaz next season.

However, the Merengues are also considering the possibility of signing Guler and loaning him back to Fenerbahce for a season, which does not appeal to the player. So, it remains to be seen how Real Madrid navigate these waters and progress in their pursuit of the 18-year-old.

Ferland Mendy finds himself in a difficult situation at Real Madrid. The Frenchman has struggled with injury and fitness woes for a large part of the past year, leading to doubts over his future at the club.

In fact, it had been reported that Los Blancos were considering selling Mendy during the summer transfer window earlier this year itself.

But, such a move did not materialise and the 28-year-old has stayed put at the Santiago Bernabeu although reports suggest that he is likely to be on the move next year.

Mendy would retire at Real Madrid if he could

Despite there having been numerous reports about his future in the summer, The Athletic reports that Mendy did not consider the possibility of an exit at any point.

In fact, the report adds that if given a chance, the 28-year-old defender would retire at Real Madrid.

Mendy’s contract with Los Merengues expires in 2025 and he is understood to be seeking a renewal for a while now, but there has been no move made by the club.

The injuries that the 28-year-old has picked up are understood to be a major deterrent for Real Madrid, which is why they are already looking to reinforce the left-back position with Alphonso Davies next year.

Despite the non-stop speculations surrounding him, Mendy continues to enjoy the full trust of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Indeed, as per the report, the Italian tactician has informed the Frenchman that he is the left-back that best fits the defensive requirements needed in the team.

Ancelotti’s decision to bench Fran Garcia in the UEFA Champions League game even though Mendy was unavailable and start David Alaba at left-back was taken as an indicator within the dressing room that the Frenchman remains the first-choice in the position.

So, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the coming months, especially with Ancelotti’s future also uncertain as his contract expires in 2024.
