There are several unsung heroes at Real Madrid who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the team’s success. One such figure who is barely recognised is Juni Calafat.

The Brazilian is the head of Los Blancos’ scouting department and is responsible for several of the young recruits in recent years, including the €100 million acquisition of Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco this past summer.

And according to reports from Diario AS, Tchouameni has exceeded all expectations at Real Madrid so far. The management trusts him to cover the defensive midfield position completely.

The Frenchman seems set to be Calafat’s next big success after Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo Goes and Federico Valverde.

Since Casemiro’s departure, Tchouameni has been a regular starter for Real Madrid. Yet, the 22-year-old did not take any pressure on his shoulders and dished out three world-class displays in as many games.

In his most recent outing against Real Betis, he was nothing short of stellar. Tchouameni had 92 touches with a pass completion rate of 90%. He produced a whopping 30 defensive actions on the night, one key pass and one dribble.

In a very short time at the club, Tchouameni is already assured of a starting spot in Real Madrid’s midfield. Yet, the question remains as to how long he can retain his good form and whether he can do it consistently.

Los Blancos signed the French international from Monaco in June. The deal is reported to be worth €80 million and can go up to €100 million with add-ons. His current contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Real Madrid could face a ‘shock exit’ from a player whose contract is not expiring – report

Real Madrid are bracing themselves for a busy summer ahead. The club have been rocked by news of Marco Asensio’s potential exit, with Paris Saint-Germain on the verge of securing his services in the coming summer.

Karim Benzema might follow suit as the veteran forward is strongly considering a move away from Santiago Bernabeu, even though he was close to extending his contract at Real Madrid earlier this year.

Now, COPE (h/t Madrid Xtra) is claiming that another Real Madrid player, who will not be out of contract this summer, could shockingly leave the club at the end of the season.

It might not necessarily be bad news for Real Madrid, though, considering there are multiple first-team stars that the club would like to get rid of. Eden Hazard tops the list, but it appears the Belgian has his heart set on remaining at the Bernabeu until 2024.

Therefore, a more logical candidate could be Ferland Mendy. The left-back has become an unwanted figure at Real Madrid, following his struggles with injuries. Many have also pointed out his limited potential.

This has led to speculations linking him with a move away from the Bernabeu, with Arsenal among the clubs interested in his services. Real Madrid, for their part, appear willing to sanction the sale of the left-back this coming summer.

The club have also kickstarted their pursuit of a new left-back, with Alphonso Davies emerging as the potential candidate. However, signing the Canadian international could prove to be tricky, even though his contract renewal talks with Bayern Munich have been postponed until next year.

Real Madrid, though, have brought back Fran Garcia, who will join the team at the start of next season. It remains to be seen whether the youngster has what it takes to become a prominent fixture in the Real Madrid starting eleven next season.
