Real Madrid no longer prioritising move for €110 million-rated striker

In a shocking turn of events, AS report that Harry Kane is no longer a priority target for Real Madrid. The Spanish club had the English striker identified as their next Galactico signing and were working hard on his arrival, but the sudden turn of events could see it collapse.

The report calls the process ‘cold’, primarily owing to the huge financial demands of Tottenham Hotspur. Real Madrid, as it appears, refuse to meet the Premier League side’s demands.

Last night, sources claimed that the two clubs held a meeting over Kane’s possible move and talked numbers during the proceedings. Spurs demanded a fee close to €110 million for their star while Los Blancos countered the offer with a proposal of €80 million plus bonuses.

However, it does not appear as if the English side are showing any flexibility on that front. In the end, a relatively trivial difference in valuation appears set to break talks down.

Considering that an agreement over the striker’s signature was said to be close less than 24 hours ago, it is difficult to believe that Real Madrid will give up their pursuit of the striker. Needless to say, the coming days will be crucial if there is to be a turnaround.

Los Blancos are in boiling water after the departure of Karim Benzema and Kane is one of the few names in world football who can claim to be a close replacement. After all, he has been a consistent performer for close to a decade now.

Dusan Vlahovic is an alternative Real Madrid have considered in the past and the doors for the Juventus star could reopen if talks with Tottenham indeed collapse. Roberto Firmino, Goncalo Ramos, and Joselu are some of the other names on the Merengues‘ table.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
