Real Madrid not ruling out Brazilian forward’s summer departure; player wants to stay
Real Madrid’s transfer plans for the remainder of the summer window could have a major impact on Endrick, with the Brazilian forward facing fresh uncertainty despite enjoying an encouraging loan spell at Lyon last season.
The 19-year-old is due back in Madrid on July 28 after his post-international break vacation, but his return does not guarantee a place in the squad for the new campaign.
As the club continues to think of new additions to their attacking options, Endrick’s future remains one of the biggest questions heading into pre-season.
Real Madrid weighing Endrick loan
According to journalist Rodra on ESPN, Real Madrid have not ruled out sending Endrick out on loan again this summer, even though the player is determined to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and compete for regular minutes.
The Spanish giants are still exploring the transfer market and hope to strengthen their attacking department before the window closes.
To make room for another forward, the club could allow one of its young attackers to leave temporarily.
The report adds that Jose Mourinho wants to assess Endrick during pre-season before making a final decision.
The Brazilian will be evaluated alongside Gonzalo Garcia, who continues to attract interest from Premier League side Fulham.
At this stage, one of the two youngsters is expected to head out on loan if Madrid succeed in signing another high-profile attacker.
Pre-season to decide Endrick’s future
Despite producing impressive performances during his spell with Lyon, Endrick has yet to convince Real Madrid’s coaching staff that he deserves a guaranteed place in the first-team squad.
Instead, the current expectation is that the young striker will once again have to earn his opportunities from the bench, much like he did during his previous stint at the club.
His performances in training and pre-season fixtures could therefore play a decisive role in determining whether he stays or leaves on another temporary move.
Meanwhile, ESPN reports that Endrick’s representatives have also considered the possibility of another loan.
However, their current priority differs from previous discussions, when consistent playing time was viewed as essential ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
The latest plan is for the Brazilian to remain at Real Madrid and fight for his place, even if that means accepting a reduced role at the beginning of the season.
Real Madrid are back in action tomorrow in La Liga as they take on Elche at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero on Matchday 6.
The Merengues go into the game on the back of a solid 4-1 win over Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu and will be eager to build on that, especially with the Madrid derby coming up later in the week.
Ahead of the trip to Elche, Jose Mourinho has announced the squad list of players that will be at his disposal for the game tomorrow night.
There are no new returns to the squad as Real Madrid continue to be without Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo Goes for the game.
Mourinho could look to make changes to his starting lineup, keeping an eye on the derby at the weekend, which could potentially open the doors for someone like Aurelien Tchouameni to start, having been eased back into the thick of things after return from injury.
There could be some rotations in defence as well, with the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Trent Alexander-Arnold hoping to get some action on the pitch.
It remains to be seen if Yan Diomande starts another game after featuring from the get-go against Rayo at the weekend, especially considering that Arda Guler has been a key player for Mourinho’s team.
Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham have started all matches so far and it will be interesting to see if one or all of them are given a break with an eye on the derby.
