Real Madrid offered former La Masia forward, but club not interested in January move

Over the past few days, there have been a lot of murmurs surrounding Real Madrid and a potential move for Galatasaray’s Argentine striker Mauro Icardi in the January window.

The injury to Vinicius Jr. has left Los Blancos thinly stretched in attack, with Carlo Ancelotti now making do with only two senior forwards in Joselu and Rodrygo Goes.

As such, there has been talk about a move for Icardi, who has been in good form away in Turkey recently, ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

Indeed, the attacker, who spent three years at Barcelona’s La Masia academy, has scored 15 goals for Galatasaray this season.

Icardi’s agent fueled rumours

Even though it was suggested that Real Madrid do not plan on signing Icardi or any other forward in January, the former La Masia trainee’s agent sparked rumours with his comments.

Indeed, Icardi’s agent revealed that he had been in Madrid and met with Los Blancos’ officials, although he confirmed that there was no offer made.

“I’m in Madrid right now (yesterday). Real Madrid has not made any offer for Icardi. They have not yet made an official offer. But we are talking to those responsible for Real Madrid,” he said.

Now, according to a fresh report from Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, Real Madrid have indeed been offered the services of Mauro Icardi, but they have no interest in signing him in January.

Senior sources at the club have informed the aforementioned outlet that they did indeed see Icardi’s agent recently, but made it abundantly clear to him that they were not interested in signing the former Inter Milan, and PSG striker.

Carlo Ancelotti has called up Real Madrid Castilla forward Gonzalo Garcia to the first-team squad for tomorrow’s game against Cadiz to make up for Vinicius’ absence.

If Real Madrid remain firm on their stance of not wanting to sign anyone else, Gonzalo could stand to play quite a bit under Ancelotti.

For now, though, despite talks with Icardi’s agent, there is simply no interest from the club in the Argentine.

Real Madrid are just days away from their highly anticipated Champions League final showdown against Borussia Dortmund.

Once the final has been played, planning for the summer transfer window will be in full swing, with the topic of arrivals and departures likely to be discussed.

One of the players facing an uncertain future is Nacho Fernandez. The Real Madrid captain has yet to disclose his future ambitions, despite nearing the end of his contract.

Nacho opens up about future

While he previously claimed that he had already made his decision, a shift in tone can be observed now, with Nacho asserting that he will soon sit with the club and his family to evaluate the best course of action

For now, the 34-year-old remains focused on the Champions League final and does not wish to draw any unnecessary attention.

“Future? The focus is on the final now. After that, I will sit with the club, Ancelotti and my family and I’ll decide what’s the best thing for me,” he told El Chiringuito.

Fernandez acknowledges the fans’ support

Additionally, the veteran centre-back claimed that he does need a grand farewell to know how much the Madrid faithful appreciate him.

“That love the fans have for Toni is the same they have for me. I don’t need a farewell to know the fans love me,” he reflected.

Nacho has devoted his entire career to Real Madrid, rising through the ranks from the youth academy and spending over two decades with the Merengues.

However, he has alluded to the possibility of perhaps donning the colours of a different jersey.

“Sometimes the circumstances are not right to be a ‘one club man’,” he cryptically claimed.
