Real Madrid outraged as players get injured during the international break
Real Madrid’s injury woes continue to plague them this season, showing little improvement from last year’s misfortunes.
Much like in the previous campaign, key players find themselves sidelined with fresh injuries, as the medical staff is repeatedly being called into action.
After Aurilien Tchouameni and Ferland Mendy suffered blows during the international break, Eder Militao joined the list of casualties.
The centre-back is set to return to Madrid after pulling his muscle during training with the Brazilian national team.
Real Madrid upset with the situation
Indeed, according to MARCA, Militao’s injury has sparked significant outrage within Real Madrid, as the club faces a recurring issue during international breaks.
Time and again, players depart for national duty in peak condition, only to return sidelined with injuries. This ongoing trend leaves the club’s management exasperated.
Already dealing with a host of fitness concerns and a packed schedule ahead, Los Blancos are increasingly frustrated by the repeated disruptions caused by international breaks.
While the report argues that the Brazilian Federation believes Militao’s injury is minor and that he will be back to full fitness in two weeks, the full extent will not be known until he undergoes tests at Valdebebas tomorrow.
The list of casualties is mounting
Militao’s injury adds to the absences of David Alaba, Jude Bellingham, Aurilien Tchouameni, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos, and Jacobo Ramon with Jesus Vallejo still in and out of the infirmary.
Eight players are sidelined just before a gruelling stretch of seven matches in 20 days. Real Madrid intend to recover some players for the clash against Real Sociedad.
However, Ancelotti reserves the right to remain anxious, knowing more injuries could come his way as international matches are still ongoing for many of his squad.
Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their fifth win of the 2026/27 La Liga season when they take on Elche CF at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero later tonight.
With 12 points from five games, Los Blancos are currently second in the league table, three points below leaders FC Barcelona.
As such, the Spanish capital club will be eager to get the win and close the gap to the top.
Guler starts, Bellingham rested
Ahead of kickoff, Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Elche, with Jose Mourinho making some important changes.
For starters, Arda Guler is back in the lineup after appearing as a substitute in the win over Rayo Vallecano.
Interestingly, however, he starts in the attacking midfield role, with Mourinho opting to rest Jude Bellingham, who has started all of Real Madrid’s games so far.
That also means that Yan Diomande retains his place in the team, starting for a second time in a row on the right wing. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. continue in their respective positions in attack.
Another notable change sees Aurelien Tchouameni make his first start of the season after recovering from injury and making two appearances off the bench.
He replaces Bernardo Silva as Federico Valverde’s partner in the middle of the park.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella come in as full-backs, while Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen slot in at centre-back in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
