The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Real Madrid wish to renew Brahim Diaz’s contract as a part of his planned return to Santiago Bernabeu.

The youngster joined Real Madrid from Manchester City in January 2019 but departed to Milan on loan the following year. After spending the 2020/21 season in Serie A, Diaz had his loan deal at AC Milan extended for a further two seasons and has impressed during his stint there.

His deal with the Italians ends in the summer, and Real Madrid do not intend to send him out again. The Rossoneri have the option to purchase him for a fee of €22 million but Los Blancos retain the right to purchase him back for €27 million.

With Real Madrid’s midfield situation uncertain, Diaz could have a big role to play in the team next season. Luka Modric does not have much time left in his legs, and Toni Kroos’ retirement could also be imminent. Thus, there is a remote chance that the Merengues will be without both of their best midfielders next season, opening the door for Diaz.

However, a big part of the decision around his future will depend on Real Madrid’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham. While fundamentally both players operate in a similar position, Diaz’s ability to play as a right-winger provides Ancelotti with another use case for the youngster.

Real Madrid will extend his contract by a further two years, taking it to 2027 in the process. Further, the new deal will provide Diaz with a significant pay rise, clearly showing that the club and administration have him in their plans for years to come.

In 20 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri this season, the 23-year-old has scored four goals and provided three assists. Further, he averages 1.2 key passes per game and has created seven big chances.

Turkish giants to go all-out to sign Real Madrid outcast – report

There is no way back for Eden Hazard at Real Madrid. The Belgian international has not given the management any reason to have faith in his abilities over his past four seasons at the club and is unsurprisingly the most important departure for the Merengues in the summer.

Hazard has one more year on his contract in Madrid. However, it is clear that Carlo Ancelotti does not trust him and that any potential replacement manager in the summer will echo his stance.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Fenerbahce are willing to go all out to sign Hazard this summer. The Turkish side have made the former Chelsea their prime target, yet face a steep task ahead of them.

The 32-year-old is hellbent on seeing out his contract with Los Blancos despite seeing his career sink right before his eyes. It thus becomes complicated for the party to lure away the forward, especially in a competition outside Europe’s top five leagues.

Fenerbahce attempted to sign the winger in the recently concluded winter transfer market. They reached an agreement with Real Madrid but failed to get over the line as they could not convince the player of the move.

The biggest obstacle for the Turkish side will be convincing Hazard to make the move by letting go of his lucrative contract in Madrid. The chances are slim, but not impossible.

Hazard has made just three league appearances and one start for Ancelotti’s side this season in La Liga, a steep fall from last season’s 18 and seven respectively.

His last appearance for the team came back in January when Real Madrid faced Cacereno in the Copa del Rey. In La Liga however, he last played in September 2022 in a 4-1 win over Mallorca.
