Real Madrid preparing documents for renewal of key defender, €1 billion release clause set

Very little has been spoken about how important Eder Militao is to the current Real Madrid setup. The Brazilian’s integration into Los Blancos‘ dynamics was so seamless that one would think he was born and brought up at the academy.
When news of Antonio Rudiger’s signing came in, many thought that Militao would be pushed to the bench. Yet, he has held onto his spot with rock-solid performances and limited the new signing to the bench.
According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are preparing all the documents for Eder Militao’s new contract. The new deal will see him commit to the Spanish champions until June 2028 with a release clause of €1 billion.
The two parties reached a verbal agreement back in July and it was only a matter of time before the club officially announced the extension. With matters speeding up now, one can expect confirmation in the coming days.
The centre-back signed for Real Madrid in 2019 from FC Porto. His current deal with the club sees him at the Bernabeu until 2025, meaning that the new contract will see him commit a further three years.
This season, Militao has started five games for the men in white. He was ruled out of action during the team’s 3-0 win over Celtic in the first week of September but made his return in two weeks during the Madrid derby.
So far this season, the Brazilian averages 1.5 interceptions, 1.5 tackles, two clearances and four duels won per game. Heading into the busy month of October, he will be a regular and crucial part of the starting lineup and will look to maintain his high level.

Atletico striker hoping Bellingham has an off day during derby: “He is at a great level”

Speaking to DAZN (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Atletico Madrid forward Alvaro Morata admitted that Real Madrid midfield superstar Jude Bellingham is performing at a great level.
Real Madrid take on Atletico in La Liga on Sunday in the Madrid derby at the Civitas Metropolitano and without a doubt, Bellingham will pose a huge threat for the Rojiblancos.
Alvaro Morata hopes Bellingham as a quiet outing
Ahead of the blockbuster encounter on Sunday, Morata, who is Atletico’s main striker, admitted that Bellingham has great quality.
“I saw him last year in a few games, the truth is that he caught my attention. I saw him in his team and in his national team, and talking to people who had played with him, teammates he has, you could already see that he was a great player,” he said.
However, the former Real Madrid striker added that he hoped that the England international has an off day during the derby.
“The truth is that he is at a great level, we can only hope that he doesn’t do well and that we also have very good players to counteract that. We hope he doesn’t have a good day on Sunday,” Morata stated.
Bellingham fit and ready to go

Bellingham has been the in-form player for Real Madrid this season with six goals and an assist in six matches across all competitions.
So, naturally, there were concerns when he did not complete the training sessions on Friday due to stomach issues.
But, the 20-year-old returned to training today and Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that he will play against Atleti tomorrow, with the Englishman named in the squad list as well.
