In a positive update for Real Madrid, Mario Cortegana is reporting that new signing Arda Guler has completed the first step of the treatment for his knee injury and it has gone well.

The update adds that the Turkish prodigy is ‘feeling good’ after the first round of treatment and if it continues in the same vein over the next five-to-six days the option of him undergoing surgery will no longer be on the table.

Guler expected to be out for two months

Real Madrid signed Guler last month, beating Barcelona to his capture. The Spanish capital club paid €20 million for his acquisition while another €10 million would be owed in performance-related add-ons.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder had been making a great impression in the early parts of pre-season training, but suffered a knee injury soon after landing in the USA.

After Guler did not train with the team for a week and missed the friendlies against AC Milan and Manchester United, Real Madrid decided to send him back to Spain to continue his recovery.

It has been suggested that the right knee injury will keep the Turkish international out for at least two months, with the club and the player opting against surgery.

But if his recovery does not go as expected over the next couple of months, Los Blancos will have Guler undergo surgery, post which he could be sidelined for a few more months.

But, with the 18-year-old’s first round of treatment going positively, both the player and the club will be hoping that there will be no need for surgery.

There had been a lot of excitement around Guler, especially after he dazzled in early pre-season training, but fans will have to wait for a while to see him make his debut for Madrid.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
