Real Madrid were going all guns blazing in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane as a replacement for former captain Karim Benzema.

With the Frenchman leaving the club to join Al-Ittihad, the Merengues had identified Kane as a priority target and were prepared to make a move for the centre-forward, for whom Spurs are demanding a fee of €115 million.

However, according to a fresh report from El Mundo, Real Madrid have put their pursuit of Kane on ‘standby’ after learning about the situation of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The 24-year-old French superstar confirmed to his club via a letter earlier this week that he does not intend to renew his contract beyond 2024.

It has led to speculations over his future, given as PSG are reluctant to lose their prized asset for free twelve months later. As such, the possibility of selling him this summer has become very real and Florentino Perez & co. are at the front of the queue to sign him.

It is no secret that Mbappe is a long-term target for Real Madrid. And having missed out on his capture last summer on a free transfer, Los Blancos are desperate to add him to their ranks this summer.

So much so that, they are willing to spend around €200 million on Mbappe’s signing while the Spanish capital giants are also planning on handing him a contract worth €25 million per year (net).

Naturally, the development surrounding the Mbappe situation has meant that Kane has taken a backseat in Real Madrid’s transfer plans as of now.

There would be not enough place to accommodate both Kane and Mbappe in the squad and as such, Los Blancos have decided to press pause on the England captain’s pursuit until the situation with the French ace becomes clear.

Only time will tell if Real Madrid are indeed successful in snaring Mbappe away from PSG or if they are forced to reignite their pursuit of Kane this summer.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
