Real Madrid reach total agreement with Vinicius over contract renewal until 2032
The saga is finally over. Real Madrid have at last reached an agreement with superstar Vinicius Jr. over a contract renewal after more than over a year of negotiations.
The development has been confirmed by David Ornstein of The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano as well.
New contract close after breakthrough in negotiations
Following Wednesday’s meeting between the club and the Brazilian’s representatives, the long-running renewal saga is now close to reaching its conclusion. Both sides left the talks satisfied after finally finding common ground.
Real Madrid improved their latest offer, without matching Vinicius’ original salary demands, and asked for a swift response. That response appears to have arrived quickly, with the renewal now on the verge of being finalised.
The new deal will keep Vinicius at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2032.

Improved contract
Real Madrid never reached the figures Vinicius initially requested, believed to be €30 million per year, including salary, bonuses, as well as a renewal bonus.
He will not receive the figures he originally sought, but, as previously reported, his new contract is expected to be worth close to €24 million net per season, plus add-ons.
The Brazilian feels the club have made a significant effort and offered a salary that reflects his standing within the squad.
Bringing a long-running saga to an end
The renewal brings to a close one of the biggest stories surrounding Real Madrid over the past season and a half.
Throughout the process, both the club and the player consistently expressed their desire to continue together.
Florentino Perez and Jose Mourinho repeatedly made it clear that Real Madrid wanted Vinicius to remain, while the Brazilian regularly described the Merengues as “the best club in the world” and insisted he wanted to stay.
The negotiations accelerated after Arsenal entered the picture. The Premier League champions launched a serious attempt to sign Vinicius, with optimism growing inside the Emirates that a deal could be completed.
However, Real Madrid moved swiftly, raised their offer, and an agreement has now been finalised for Vinicius to remain at the club for six more years until 2032.
After three successive wins to start the season, a 1-0 loss to Real Betis came as a reality check for Real Madrid, who are still some way off matching the quality and consistency of Barcelona.
In light of the defeat, the Real Madrid coaching staff is analysing the best way to get the most out of the current setup.
More expected from Valverde
According to Defensa Central, one of the key conclusions drawn from the Betis defeat is that Real Madrid need greater involvement from Federico Valverde with the ball.
The Uruguayan has been deployed as the pivot, largely due to the absence of the injured Aurelien Tchouameni, but he is yet to make the step up in quality the team requires from that role.
While his effort and commitment are never in doubt, Mourinho and his staff, led by Sami Khedira, feel Valverde spends too much time positioned behind the opposition’s midfield line.
As a result, he fails to offer passing lanes to his teammates when they are under pressure, forcing them into hurried, aimless clearances rather than playing out cleanly from the back.
That concern has already been communicated to Valverde, who is still adapting to a position he has never truly played, making the challenge all the more difficult for him.
A collective issue to fix
However, the problem is not Valverde’s alone, with the coaching staff identifying a wider issue in the team’s structure.
Khedira has reportedly noted a certain passivity from the attackers in the videos of the match, particularly Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe, when it comes to offering themselves as the ball transitions from midfield into attacking areas.
That lack of movement compounds the difficulties for the deeper midfielders.
Mourinho, for his part, remains unfazed by the departure of Rodri to Barcelona, insisting his squad has the tools to cope.
“I’m not missing Rodri. We have solutions, we have quality,” the Portuguese said, before adding that he backs his ability to improve players.
With a Champions League opener against Inter Milan on the horizon, Mourinho and his staff will be keen to iron out these issues quickly.
