Real Madrid rising star reacts to Ancelotti’s links to Brazil: “We have joked many times”

Speaking in an interview (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes has opened up on the possibility of seeing Carlo Ancelotti take over the reins of the Brazilian national team.
Over the summer, Ancelotti has been heavily linked with a move to the Selecao.
The Brazil Football Confederations (CBF) president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, has been vocal in his pursuit of the Real Madrid boss, even stating that the Italian will be in charge of the national team at the Copa America next year.
Ancelotti, whose contract with the Merengues runs until 2024, has been reluctant to speak about the subject and has stated that his complete focus remains on Real Madrid.
And now, Rodrygo, who could get a chance to play under Ancelotti at the international level if the speculations are true, has reiterated the Italian’s stance that he is fully focused on Los Blancos.
“I don’t know anything. It could be a complicated season. When we lose a game, they will say that the coach is thinking about something else. We know it’s not that, but that’s what they’re going to say. It’s good for him to make it clear that nothing will happen until after his contract,” he said.
“We have joked many times with Ancelotti about him being the coach. I don’t know what he thinks but his focus is on Madrid. He will enjoy the season and then I don’t know.”
Brazil have appointed Fernando Diniz as their manager, on an interim basis until next year, and touching upon that, Rodrygo added:
“Now there is Diniz and I don’t know what will happen next, but I will take advantage of Ancelotti at Madrid and Diniz in Brazil. Ancelotti has a very big responsibility at Madrid and we are very excited about the season and the new reinforcements.”
When asked to point out the differences between Ancelotti and Diniz, he said: “They are a bit different styles. Ancelotti is more direct, always going forward. I can’t say much about Diniz, I’ve played against his teams but I can’t talk about what he’s like in the dressing room.”
Ancelotti a phenomenal coach, says Rodrygo

Ancelotti is one of the most decorated managers in the game of football and has seen great success in his second stint with Real Madrid. And Rodrygo, who has grown into a vital player under the 64-year-old, waxed lyrical about him, saying:
“He is a phenomenon. He didn’t win everything he won for nothing. He takes care of the fundamentals, how you are going to position yourself.
“We have good tactics and I don’t think we have to work too hard because we already have the best in the world. You can’t teach Modric that he has to do this or that. But we work well on the tactical side and with quality it’s easier.”
The former Chelsea and AC Milan boss is known for his excellent man-management skills and that is something Rodrygo highlighted as well, saying:
“He manages the dressing room very well, and that’s the secret of our team, even more than the tactical part. He’s good at that, a lot of people say so and we can prove it. He is always talking to one, to another, among us. This is very important.”

Real Madrid defender taken off with an injury against Las Palmas

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.
Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.
Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.
And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.
Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.
Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.
Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.
The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
