Speaking in an interview recently, Barcelona coach Xavi spoke about Brazilian wonderkid Endrick. Rather openly, as well. He confirmed talks with the player and his father, and straight up confirmed that the Catalans ‘want’ him.

“We have been talking to his father and also directly with the player. I explained the project we have at Barcelona. We want talent and he is a talent, capable of making a difference,” he said.

Speaking on the same beat of the drum, Xavi said he hoped to see Endrick sign for Barcelona, “He is the type of player we need. He already knows the project we have at Barcelona and we are talking. I hope he joins Barça.

While this would, ideally, give the Catalans a huge boost in pursuit of the youngster, Barcelona are still trailing Real Madrid and PSG in the race. In fact, MARCA has confirmed that Madrid recently sent scouts to Brazil, returning with very good reports.

Madrid are believed to be the first club to show interest in Endrick, but are yet to make a definitive proposal for the striker. In fact, they are not interested in entering a bidding war, and will only move ahead with the signing if the teenager decides to reject other offers.

Chelsea are also in the ring hoping for Endrick’s signature, but it seems PSG are the ones on the highest rung of the ladder, having spoken to Palmeiras already about a tentative move.

“Paris Saint-Germain are the only club that opened negotiations with Palmeiras with an official proposal, as things stand,” said Douglas, who is thought to be playing a key role in helping his son decide his future.

Evidently, there is a ton of interest for Endrick among top clubs from Europe, but a move in the summer is entirely dependent on the clubs paying his €60 million release clause. Palmeiras have left no room to negotiate the contract, with Endrick taking the onus to choose his eventual destination.

The Santiago Bernabeu is ready for the first time in a fortnight as Real Madrid are set to host relegation-threatened Real Valladolid for gameweek 27 of La Liga. The gap between them and Barcelona was increased to 15 yesternight, and los blancos will be looking to cut it down to 12 to scarce the tiniest bit of hope of defending their league crown.

Carlo Ancelotti has opted to use a highly attacking starting lineup for the clash, with Karim Benzema spearheading the front-three. He is flanked by Marco Asensio on the right while Vinicius Jr retains his place on the left.

Rodrygo also gets the nod to start, probably as an attacking midfielder in what looks like a 4-2-3-1.

Aurelien Tchouameni has been given the nod in midfield, with Toni Kroos forming the double pivot alongside him.

With Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy, and Nacho out injured, Eduardo Camavinga gets the license to start as the left-back, while Lucas Vazquez flanks the defence from the right. The usual suspects — Eder Militao and David Alaba — start in central defence.

Thibaut Courtois was a doubt heading into this game, but has been given the medical greenlight to take his place as the goalkeeper.

Madrid XI: Courtois; Vazquez, Militao, Alaba, Camavinga; Tchouameni, Kroos; Asensio, Rodrygo, Vinicius; Benzema
