The signing of Joselu during the summer transfer window, on a loan deal from the relegated RCD Espanyol, did not generate a great deal of excitement among Real Madrid supporters.

After all, having lost Karim Benzema, the Madridistas were hoping that their club would go out and sign a top striker to fill the void.

That was not the case, though, with Joselu being the only forward that arrived despite the fact that Los Blancos bid goodbye to Benzema, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz.

Some saw the Spanish international as a replacement for Mariano in the squad, but close to the midpoint this season, Joselu has already outdone the latter in several aspects.

Real Madrid considering signing Joselu permanently

As such, AS is reporting that Real Madrid are seriously contemplating the possibility of signing Joselu permanently by using their purchase option for the centre-forward.

This comes after the veteran striker bagged a crucial brace against Union Berlin last night, helping Los Blancos to a comeback 3-2 victory in their final UEFA Champions League group game.

With his double, Joselu has now taken his tally for the season to eight goals in 21 matches, while registering two assists as well.

Real Madrid are understood to be very satisfied with what Joselu is delivering in terms of his role and performance.

The club, as has been reported in recent months, is planning to sign a Galactico this summer (Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland), but there will still be a need for a ‘second striker’ and Joselu fits the bill.

As such, the idea of signing him permanently is being given serious thought. Real Madrid can do so thanks to a purchase option, which is believed to be non-mandatory and worth around €1.5 million.

Joselu happy and proud at Real Madrid

Having come back to Real Madrid last summer from Espanyol, Joselu has given his everything each time he has stepped onto the pitch.

After the game against Union Berlin, he opened up on what it means to be playing for Los Blancos, as he said:

“For me, wearing this shirt is a pride and a pleasure. It’s been a dream since I was a child. In the end, I try to contribute as much as possible when I put on this shirt and games like today’s are what you dream of every day.”

Real Madrid are just days away from their highly anticipated Champions League final showdown against Borussia Dortmund.

Once the final has been played, planning for the summer transfer window will be in full swing, with the topic of arrivals and departures likely to be discussed.

One of the players facing an uncertain future is Nacho Fernandez. The Real Madrid captain has yet to disclose his future ambitions, despite nearing the end of his contract.

Nacho opens up about future

While he previously claimed that he had already made his decision, a shift in tone can be observed now, with Nacho asserting that he will soon sit with the club and his family to evaluate the best course of action

For now, the 34-year-old remains focused on the Champions League final and does not wish to draw any unnecessary attention.

“Future? The focus is on the final now. After that, I will sit with the club, Ancelotti and my family and I’ll decide what’s the best thing for me,” he told El Chiringuito.

Fernandez acknowledges the fans’ support

Additionally, the veteran centre-back claimed that he does need a grand farewell to know how much the Madrid faithful appreciate him.

“That love the fans have for Toni is the same they have for me. I don’t need a farewell to know the fans love me,” he reflected.

Nacho has devoted his entire career to Real Madrid, rising through the ranks from the youth academy and spending over two decades with the Merengues.

However, he has alluded to the possibility of perhaps donning the colours of a different jersey.

“Sometimes the circumstances are not right to be a ‘one club man’,” he cryptically claimed.
