Real Madrid set sights on Manchester City baller as possible Bellingham alternative

There is no doubt that Real Madrid are expected to enter the market for a new midfielder in the coming summer.

Although Luka Modric is ready to extend his spell at Santiago Bernabeu, the veteran is in the final phase of his career. Signing a new midfielder, therefore, could be the need of the hour.

Jude Bellingham is the main target for Real Madrid at the end of the season. However, according to ESPN, Manchester City appear to be leading the race to sign Bellingham, which has led to Real Madrid considering other alternatives.

The Whites have been recently linked with a move for Spanish youngster Gabri Veiga. But the report points out that another alternative could be none other than Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese international, who has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona for the past few years now, is facing an uncertain future at the club. It appears the player himself is keen on seeking a new adventure elsewhere, with Barça among the options.

Although Silva has hinted at his desire to play for Barcelona in the past, the Man City star will be well aware of the club’s financial situation and as such, could be open to other opportunities.

That is where Real Madrid come into the fray. With the club lacking a reliable option in the attacking midfield position, Silva could prove to be an ideal target.

The Portuguese international offers extensive experience at the highest level, which is coupled with his versatility and technical prowess – making him a tailor-made fit for Real Madrid.

Manchester City have made it clear in the past that they will not stand in the way of any player who wants to leave, as long as a good enough offer arrives. Silva could potentially cost lesser than Bellingham, which could appeal to Real Madrid.

But, with Barça lurking as well, it might not be straightforward for the current champions of Spain to land the Manchester City superstar.

Real Madrid to choose between Ancelotti’s trusted lieutenant and Bayern Munich speedster

Journalist Jose Felix Diaz has reported via MARCA that there is a growing thought within Real Madrid that the team can only accommodate one of Ferland Mendy or Alphonso Davies

Over the past few weeks, Mendy has not put a foot wrong and has rightly earned the accolades of his teammates, the coaching staff and his teammates.

At the same time, though, the prospect of signing Davies is exciting the Real Madrid fans and although the Canadian would indeed bring joy, the team from the Spanish capital is beginning to worry about certain things.

Mendy wants to stay

It is to be noted that the reason why Madrid decided to go for Davies was because Mendy, who has a contract until 2025, did not agree to the earlier contract proposal.

Mendy has managed his career strategically and now, he is seeking a renewal that he previously avoided.

The French defender has made it clear that he plans to stay at Real Madrid as he feels content and respected both on and off the field. Manager Carlo Ancelotti trusts him greatly and wants to keep him.

Real Madrid recognize that Davies could be a smart acquisition, but they also value Mendy’s versatility and skill.

The financial aspects of a possible transfer will depend on how both full-backs are evaluated in the upcoming Madrid vs Bayern Champions League tie.

Ferland Mendy vs Alphonso Davies vs others

Real Madrid face a decision about their left-back position, as there may not be room for both Mendy and Davies. This is why they feel having both players may not be the best choice.

On the other hand, Fran Garcia is also involved in this situation. He started the season strong but has played less recently.

However, he has performed well and is content to wait for opportunities, as he still has four years left on his contract. While he wants to play more, he remains patient.

Lastly, the fourth player in the mix is Miguel Gutierrez, currently at Girona, for whom Real Madrid have an €8 million buyback option which could be triggered. Even if it is done, he is likely to be transferred.
