Real Madrid set to sign 18-year-old Barcelona target in €20 million deal

The stage is set for Arda Guler to join Real Madrid. Despite trailing Barcelona in the race to acquire his services not so long ago, the Merengues‘ latest proposal has gone a long way in turning the tables and the writing now appears to be on the wall.

The reliable Mario Cortegana goes as far as to confirm that the deal is done, with Guler expected to link with Carlo Ancelotti at the earliest. He is even expected to be a part of Real Madrid’s upcoming pre-season tour to the United States.

As opposed to reports earlier this month that suggested his incorporation in the Castilla side, Los Blancos are offering the prodigy a first-team spot for the 2023/24 campaign. In fact, it is this assurance that appears to have triggered the player’s change in heart.

Fabrizio Romano adds that Real Madrid will pay €20 million plus add-ons for the youngster’s services, slightly more than his release clause of €17.5 million. He adds that the negotiations are in the final stages with the club confident of getting it done in a day or two.

Moreover, that proposal includes a 20% share of any future sale of the player to his current employers, Fenerbahce.

Guler has been making headlines over the past years for his unreal influence in the middle of the park both for club and country. His control of the ball is impeccable, and it is safe to say that Real Madrid have one of football’s biggest gems in their ranks.

However, given the competition for places in the team, it will be interesting to see manager Carlo Ancelotti manages to fit Guler into the scheme of things at the Santiago Bernabeu.

What appears to be clear is that Real Madrid seem to have pulled off a successful hijack and are now all set to beat Barcelona to the 18-year-old whizkid’s signing.

Good move. A very brilliant replacement for Asensio.

Real Madrid missed out on the signing of Leny Yoro after deciding not to match Manchester United’s offer for the 18-year-old defender.

With the French prodigy now on his way to the Premier League, Los Blancos are assessing their options before deciding whether to sign a new centre-back or not.

As things stand, the reigning champions of Spain and Europe seem to be leaning towards relying on their existing options rather than going into the market.

Jesus Vallejo unlikely to leave

As such, MARCA reports that the likelihood of Jesus Vallejo leaving the club have now significantly reduced.

Indeed, the 27-year-old out-of-favour defender now appears more and more likely to continue at Real Madrid beyond this summer.

Vallejo returned to the Santiago Bernabeu after finishing his loan stint at Granada during which he hardly played due to injury and fitness woes.

As such, reports suggested that Carlo Ancelotti & co. were not planning on counting on him next season, even though he was handed a new shirt number recently.

But with the Leny Yoro operation collapsing and Real Madrid not keen on recruiting anyone from the market at this point, the Spanish ace is now unlikely to leave the club.

With David Alaba still sidelined, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao will start the new season as the first-choice centre-back pairing and Vallejo will serve as the backup while Aurelien Tchouameni will also be an option.

Vallejo, for his part, wanted to stay put and see out his contract which expires in 2025. And, as things stand, it appears that the player will get his wish.
