Vinicius Jr has a record of miraculous recoveries. The Brazilian is not new to facing deadlines for fitness reasons but has always found a way to return faster than expected through a combination of work ethic and dedication.

Real Madrid confirmed his latest injury over three weeks ago after the youngster ruptured the biceps femoris muscle of his left thigh on international duty.

Despite the initial prognosis being favourable, the medical team soon revealed that the player would be on the sideline for at least two and a half months. In theory, he would thus miss all of Real Madrid’s games until February.

A miraculous recovery?

Now, according to reports from Mario Cortegana, Vinicius Jr will return to action as early as January. It is impossible to pin an exact date for his return, but the prognosis now is far better than it has been in recent weeks.

Sources from within the club refuse to rule out his participation in the Spanish Super Cup which will be held next month. It is too early to predict his availability for the event, but the signs hint towards the possibility.

Needless to say, this comes as a massive relief to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. After all, the manager is left with Rodrygo and Joselu as his only two forward options in Vini Jr’s absence.

Recovery going well

While Vinicius Jr will require close to another month until he returns, there is already good news pouring into the ears of Carlo Ancelotti. After all, Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham returned to training with the group ahead of the Real Betis clash and will likely to available on the night.

It is a long road for Ancelotti to travel before he has a full-strength squad at his disposal again. Yet, he can hope to have a reasonably strong team ready in time to face Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Supercup opener that is set to kick off in just over a month’s time.

As Real Madrid gear up to face Borussia Dortmund in the finals of the UEFA Champions League this weekend, a number of their players interacted with the press today as part of the UEFA Open Media Day.

Jude Bellingham was one of the stars who answered questions from the media ahead of what will be an emotional game for him against his former club, in his homeland.

The England international has enjoyed a spectacular debut season at Real Madrid and is seen as a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or this season.

However, when asked about the Golden Orb, Bellingham tipped his Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr. as his pick to win the prestigious honour this year.

“For me, Vinicius is the best in the world. He creates magic out of nothing. He has everything to be the best,” said Bellingham, as quoted by The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai.

After all, Vinicius has also enjoyed a scintillating campaign and is one of the frontrunners to walk away with the Ballon d’Or, owing to his clutch performances for Real Madrid.

The Brazilian also spoke to the media today and was asked about the Ballon d’Or. Interestingly, he went on to name Bellingham as his pick to win the Golden Ball.

“I would give the Ballon d’Or to Bellingham,” he said, as quoted by Carrusel.

When Bellingham was informed about Vinicius picking him as the favourite for the Ballon d’Or, the England international responded by saying:

“If that’s how he feels, then you can split it in two (laughs).”

The responses show the strong bond and camaraderie that the two superstars of Real Madrid share.

Both are contenders to lift the Golden Ball this year and a win in the Champions League, coupled with strong performances in the summer’s international tournaments, would further enhance their chances.
