In what could be a bitter blow for Real Madrid, Jose Luis Sanchez is reporting that midfielder Luka Modric is injured and ruled out of Copa del Rey final against CA Osasuna. His availability for the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg versus Manchester City is also uncertain

Modric was seen icing his left thigh after coming off in the second half against Girona earlier this week. It was reported that the issue was not serious and that the 37-year-old would be ready in time for the big games next month.

However, it seems that Modric’s discomfort has only grown worse over the past few days, and tests have reportedly revealed a tear in his hamstring, which will sideline him two weeks.

This rules out his availability for the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna, while his involvement in the UCL semi-final versus Manchester City is also up in the air.

It also essentially means that Modric will miss tomorrow’s La Liga game against CA Osasuna as well as the encounter against Real Sociedad next week.

This comes as a bitter blow for Real Madrid at a crucial juncture of the season. Despite his age, Modric remains a top player and a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Going into two pivotal fixtures, possibly the biggest of the season, without him could be a major cause of concern.

In what is starting to become an alarmingly common occurrence, a set of Barcelona fans were spotted hurling abusive chants towards Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr.

Barça will be facing PSG in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal today in less than an hour and in the lead-up to the game, a section of the Catalans’ supporters were seen chanting “Vinicius, die” on the streets.

It is not the first time this has happened, with Vinicius being constantly targeted by not only Barcelona fans but supporters of a number of other La Liga clubs.

In fact, last month, Barcelona fans were seen hurling the same chants before their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Napoli.

The same had happened outside Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic prior to the Clasico in October last year.

Moreover, this past weekend, a Mallorca fan at Son Moix directed racist abuse towards Vinicius’ Real Madrid teammate, Aurelien Tchouameni.

It is shocking and embarrassing that these incidents continue to occur. It remains to be seen if any action is taken by the concerned authorities against those involved.
