Kylian Mbappe remains an ever-present hot topic in Real Madrid circles. Even after Real Madrid missed out on his signing in the summer, many expect the PSG superstar to join the club next season.

Mbappe’s current contract expires at the end of the season and everything suggests he won’t renew his contract at Parc des Princes.

Mbappe would thus be available on a free transfer, giving Real Madrid an excellent opportunity to seal his services – this time for real.

Mbappe arrival taken for granted

Personalities such as Paco Buyo even think that the signing of Mbappe has been taken for granted at Real Madrid.

A regular talk show host at El Chiringuito (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the former Real Madrid goalkeeper has revealed that there is indeed great confidence within the camp, as far as the signing of Mbappe is concerned.

Real Madrid have the cash to burn next summer, and one would expect that most of the outlay will go to the French international.

Mbappe to wear number ten kit

Buyo went on to claim that Mbappe will wear the number ten kit after arriving at Santiago Bernabeu next summer.

“Mbappé, next season, will wear Real Madrid’s number 10,” Buyo told El Chiringuito.

Over the past six years or so, the number ten jersey at Real Madrid has been donned by Luka Modric. Needless to say, the Croat has done justice to the prestigious kit, notably winning the Ballon d’Or in 2018.

But with Modric’s contract expiring at the end of the season, the road should be clear for Mbappe to done the number ten kit.

Mbappe wearing the number ten kit, though, would suggest that Real Madrid may sign another centre-forward, as the number nine slot is still empty following the exit of Karim Benzema.

Real Madrid are back in the Champions League following their impressive win against Cadiz on the weekend as they host Napoli at the Santiago Bernabeu for gameweek five.

They have already secured qualification to the round of 16, and even a point today would secure first place in the group.

With several players still injured, Carlo Ancelotti has opted for his best available starting lineup, with Daniel Carvajal taking responsibility of the captain’s armband at right-back. He will be aided by Ferland Mendy, who starts on the other side.

Meanwhile, in between them, David Alaba returns to the fold as the starting centre-back, partnering Antonio Rudiger. This duo has the responsibility of screening Andriy Lunin, who continues in goal in Kepa and Thibaut Courtois’ absence.

With both Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni out, Toni Kroos gets the chance to play as the holding midfielder for two games in a row. Federico Valverde retains his spot, as well, while Dani Ceballos comes in for the injured Luka Modric in central midfield.

Rodrygo will spearhead the team’s frontline as one of the two twin forwards, while Brahim Diaz gets the nod over Joselu. Jude Bellingham is the final, and arguably the most important piece of the puzzle, playing behind the front-two.

Confirmed Madrid XI: Lunin; Carvajal, Rudiger, Alaba, Mendy; Valverde, Kroos, Ceballos; Bellingham; Diaz, Rodrygo
