Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe in contract talks with PSG – report

Just as reports emerged that Real Madrid could make a last-ditch bid for Kylian Mbappe, manager Carlo Ancelotti has shut down talks of any late movements at the club.

Indeed, during his press conference earlier today, Ancelotti made it very clear that there will be no more signings at the club, saying: “No, I rule it out 100%. I think our squad is closed and our players are thinking about our season.

Ancelotti’s statements, if taken on face value, should put an end to the talk of Real Madrid making any move for Mbappe or any other player for that matter, in the last week of the window.

Mbappe in contract talks

In the aftermath of this, Sky Sports is now reporting that Mbappe is already in contract renewal talks with PSG as he looks likely to remain at the club for this season and possibly even longer.

The 24-year-old’s current contract with the Parisian giants expires next year after he decided not to activate the one-year extension option in his deal.

As such, it was widely believed that Mbappe would leave PSG for free in 2024, something that the club do not want to happen.

Now, talks are understood to have resumed between the two parties over the matter of his contract.

The report states that Mbappe has two options as far as his contract are concerned – either he makes use of the one-year extension option in his deal and renews until 2025, or he negotiates a new contract altogether.

If he does renew, the chances of a move to Real Madrid next year could end up being scuppered as previous reports have suggested that the Merengues will not move for the World Cup winner in that scenario.

French midfielder admits considering PSG move before Real Madrid called him

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
